Careful with that site - it's easy to get lost down the rabbit hole and end up seeing things that can't be unseen. Also, if you order now you might get your figure by next Christmas haha.

hehe Gohkm may get it quicker as I'm sure Singapore is closer than the UK to China (plus the model in question is in stock)

Yep, I have waited two years for some of the ones I have back ordered. On average it take about 4 weeks to get my stuff if its in stock and I am in BFE Illinois.

The mini I'm thinking of actually falls into both "rare" and "mounted" categories, turns out--
But I'd prefer a mounted category, I think, to avoid folks feeling like they can't participate if they don't have any limited edition figures.
I don't think the compulsion to buy a limited and/or CMON exclusive for february is any different than that to buy from e2066 for October....rare means limited run and not just OOP. I meant to imply anything that is not 'everyday' and not just 'expensive on eBay.'
Admittedly, elitism is no fun, but limited edition is easy to find.

)+ 1 to the mounted miniature idea. I think everyone has a mini that fits into this category.
I'M not with the "rare beauties" thing. I have a bunch of LE miniatures, but for me it's not a real theme. It should be somewhat coherent, which I don't see here.
Furthermore we all like to bend the themes already enough.
Busts isn't a theme for me too. A friend of mine said when he looked at my Fauno bust: "Why the hell didn't that guy make a whole figure?? This looks crap! "Well, yeah. It's called a bust!" I said. So while he liked the painting, he is still not fond of "this half finished work" as he said. hehehehe. I have some busts in my box, so I'm going to annoy him a lot more in future.
I had no problems ordering at E2046. It took about 2 weeks to get to Austria. Just keep in mind to order only kits that are IN STOCK, you can filter their shop for this purpose. I'm still waitning for another kit, which I ordered later and was not in stock.

Yes, make sure they are in stock,.. and be sure to read the descriptions. Some of the pieces come pre-assembled and pre-painted. But these usually have a large pricetag associated with them.
Also, as for future themes,.. what about (instead of model-centric themes) some technique centered themes? For example, I've been kicking around the idea of "the flesh faire",... the point being to present your best flesh tones. Or "heavy metal",.. the point being to present your best tmm/nmm?,... etc,etc,etc,....

depending on the figure prepare for a long wait.
I had an order once, that not many wanted, took about 2 years until the minimum preorders were there to cast it. By that time I completely forgot, that I ordered it, so I was pretty surprised when I got the invoice to pay.

yes,.. true metal and/or non-metal metallics. But these aren't the only ideas. The point is to let the veterans show off their abilities, while getting the newbies to try their hand at something new. And the vets could give advice and pointers along the way. But we can do this with any technique,. OSL being another that springs to mind, or weathering, or,.. well,.. anything really,..

I'm not a fan of the specific technique theme. To run a competition centred around techniques, just seems I might as well attend a workshop specific to the technique.
I don't mind the Non-gaming Models theme, I think that has merit in showing off models that aren't commonly seen.
As for limited edition theme, I've got enough of these to cover whoever might need one for the competition. Just tell me which one you want from Rackham, Ilyad, or Kingdom Death and we can work out a deal.
