Just a little post warning about my experience with Kraken Editions I figured this was the best place to write about it, so hopefully others can make an informed decision.

I ordered Jeremie\'s painting DVD, and the Baby Kade miniature back on 8/10/08
and paid for them the same day.

Not in a hurry for them I figured they would reach my door in the UK whenever the guys running the store had time to get things cast up and had time to fix any regionalisation bugs with the DVD.

I sent them a follow up email on 3/11/08 to enquire about the order status as I had not received anything and got this response:

“Hi Ben,

in fact, there were a technical problem ; your order has been shipped 29 of October, and not 18 as said in our online shop.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Regards.

Vincent.
Kraken Editions.”


Fine I thought. Although in hindsight alarm bells should have been ringing as they waited for me to chase the order, instead of being professional about it and notifying me on the 29th when they realised there was a problem.

I still haven’t received anything, so now I am thinking that I was lied to about the dispatch on the 29th. A supposition corroborated by the fact that they are now refusing to reply to any of the emails I have sent to them.

I requested tracking information so I could see where things might be in the system, but they haven’t replied, I have requested a refund but no joy.

My experience dealing with this company can be described as ‘dismal’

i haven\'t had any problems with them in the past.
maybe it realy is just one of those things that happens and will eventualy be sorted.

i\'m sure they will be in contact with you and it will be sorted out. :)

Hello Ben! I have just sent you a private mail;)

I understand you are angry with us, but i am surprised we didnt received your emails, and of course not the miniature boxes.
Sometimes its happenend, so we\'ll found the origin of this problem.

Vincent si not looking his emails during the week end, he\'s not working.

he received the same email as you, so we\'ll found what happened with this box.

I am founding the track number of the shippement ok?

Yes, it was impossible for us to answer before.... cause we didnt received the last emails;)

As i am making the boxes myself... i hope;)

I must agree they are slow answering emails, I am still waiting for a response to one sent around 4 days ago. But it is a small business, so will be patient about it.

The only thing I can add about the warning is, after my problem with Miniature Mentor, it is just not worth trying to help the majority of people on this site, as you just get shouted down, ridiculed and ignored. Sometimes you just cant help people help themselves.

But that is not everyone on this site;)

That\'s unfortunate to hear. My own limited experiences with the people on the boards here has been overwhelmingly positive with painting advice and even the odd wierd passionate topic in the General Discussion threads.

I felt the original post was worded well and stated the purhcasers side of the story without falling to exzaggeration, hysteria, and name calling and just highlighted what was a negative buying experience.

Also getting a response right from the source himself with an outline on resolving the problem seems to have been positive as well.

I would hope you would continue to post about any negative (or positive!) experiences you have. I for one take all this info in and use it to make my purchasing decisions.

What trouble did you have with Mini Mentor Atacam? This is the second time in as many days that I\'ve seen a complaint about them, the other one suggested not bothering with them and going straight for Kraken, without an explanation.

I am still waiting for some forward momentum on this despite Jeremie\'s best efforts.

Its really frustrating, as i was really looking forward to watching the DVD.

oh well, the wait continues :)

I\'ve gotten a bunch of stuff from them and haven\'t had a problem. If I had some cash right now in my paypal account, I\'d get the dvd as well cause i want that :(

Sorry to say no joy, No emails, no dvd and no miniature :(

im sure others have had no issues, but as you can see, this has been going on since October 8th, make your mind up accordingly.

....sigh....

I gotta say, I\'m still waiting for some replacements for mis-packs in the Khaliman starter set that I bought at Essen Spiel. I contacted a Kraken Editions chappie through the UKCORD forums, and he said it\'d be sorted quickly. I\'m still waiting, and Germany is not a million miles from France, guys. :(

Sounds like Kraken may need some quality control. People that make sure that each boxed set has the right amount of contents in it. Hope everything works out. Also I am not sure if you bought direct from their website but it may be easier for you if you order from another online store that sells their product. That is what I do and I never have any problems. Kind of late to mention but in the future, if you continue to buy from them, it maybe worth doing.

Aye, they could do with a bit of QC. It\'s not exactly that there wasn\'t the right number of bits, it\'s just that some of them weren\'t the RIGHT bits. I\'m missing the sword from Suleman Ghulam\'s back and Sheik Araoui\'s bow arm. I bought everything from their stand at a convention, so I can only go back to them. I understand that everyone\'s human and mistakes happen, but waiting for over a month for something to be fixed is a little wearing. I reckon the OP of this thread would agree with me.

True. I am prepared to give a little leeway, but for me its not quality control that is the issue, but \'honesty\'.
I\'ve tried as a \'good customer\' to do everything i can from my end. I have offered more money for more secure postage, i have requested proof of postage.

They are ignoring emails, and tbh i wont be purchasing through them, or ordering anything related to them again.

Pretty poor considering the global economic downturn, i guess some people just cant get it right.

I do not know if you paid with paypal but if you did you can file a claim. You can probably do something similar with your credit card if you paid that way although it may be too late. Hope everything works out.

Well I have now sent 2 emails and not had a response to either of them. I want to know what has happened to my replacemnt DVD. It looks like quite a few people are asking the same questions, and not getting any response either.

This certainly doesn\'t look good for Kraken. I for one am thinking of not getting anymore stuff, if this is the level of customer service. Shame as as I have all the Khamalin stuff, and was going to expand. I chose Alkemy over Helldorado, looks like it could have been a mistake.

I\'m going to try and contact Bragon through pm on here as well.

See what i get back, if anything?

Sorry to contact you here, it wasn\'t my first choice. I have sent a few emails now, and just am not getting a response. It seems this is the trend for quite a few people with Kraken. I want to know where the new painting DVD is that I was promised to replace the original one I bought. Could you please give me an update, with a date if the DVD is not available yet. I am really looking forward to getting in teh Alkemy stuff, already haveing all the English release stuff for the Khamalians, as I chose this over Helldorado, but this bought of very bad customer service, is making me wonder did I place my faith in the wrong place?

Could you please respond to the pm?

Well. I\'ve contacted paypal through whom i purchased the item and they cant do anything because its out of its 45 day grace period. Specifically Because i gave the guys at Kraken the benefit of the doubt.

So i have no goods, no money, no point of contact. I would already describe this as a debarcle.

I\'ll see if i can contact my card issuer and try to recover the money that way :(
