great work these hawks!

was it much figures at 08 open? sadly it always clashes with Salute so i guess ill never be there (or so it seems)
Art in Miniature that is held here in gothenburg is a great competition if you build tanks or airplanes, the figure class are pretty nonexistant. sort of.

agree that bust made by Magnus is pretty cool :)

Not to much figures at 08 open but good quality on them thou. It was fun to go there, sadly I couldn´t be there both days this time. But will go next year again (if I don't go to salute or somewhere)

Been away from home 2 days to be on a painting gathering, very nice and good for inspiration. I have tried oils for the first time and will continue on this figure to learn more about that and how to paint with it. Just started on the face and will let it dry for some time now to continue with it later.

Also traded some figures I would not be painting and got some malifaux figures instead that I started to paint. Thanks Martin :)

Thanks Gandalf, the ruggedness is a little not intended :) just me not used to oil colours I believe. Will see how it turns out later, it is drying now and I will work more on it this coming weekend.

Just a small update on the girl. Just started the legs, the knees are more or less finished, the rest need more work

Might look good :) but not my best job so far, this is a fast job and if I would take closeups it wouldn't look so good and smooth

But thanks for all nice comments, hoping to have some time this night to paint more. Also will provide closeups to show "issues" with smoothness :)

Yeah also like the hair thanks goes out to Among the way studios and Martin for a great workshop last weekend :), mostly about NMM and skin but I picked up a lot of other useful stuff also.

Even though you think it may not be your best work. The reasons I think this is;
The highlights on the hair are magnificent drawing the eye to the shiny hair that had a consistent shine making it look real. The colour ties in well with the clothes unifying the mini. Skins a great tone with soft shadow and highlights. the big transitions on the dress (that you could make even lighter) works so well with the soft skin.
Bravo

Thanks again :)

Have done some more, and not much left now and will make a base for her also.

I have decided to give her away for the cost of the postal service to send it, properly do some kind of lottery if there are any interested, will post more information regarding this when I am ready with the figure.

I agree with canny . I feel it's your best from the color scheme to the highlight/shadow placement everything is where it should be . Don't be fooled because its your quick type PJ for . If quick paintjobs meant bad technique IDE never be able to turn out 50 models last year all worth their invitation in the cmon 2015 annual. For example I've mastered 2 brush blending. I'm vet fast at it now just like meg maples. Now two brush blending is a very fast technique 2-3xs as fast as layering. It's a very efficient when mastered turns out very smooth gradient models in a fraction if the time. So if fast meant "not as good" me and others including meg maples wouldn't use it. The fact is you can take all the time one wants on a model but if your, producing high standard models like the wyrd model above , you really don't have with results like this. Great work!!!
