To hijack the thread momentarily, YES - I\'ve seen pictures of that hat you wear.
Back on topic - Hell, I came up on old school sword and sorcery fantasy - Conan, Farfhred and the Grey Mouser, John Carter of Mars, Pellucidar, that whole glorious muscle bound bunch of sword swinging Byronic heros from the 1930\'s. As such, I have no problem accepting that Conan will always be able to stop the falling rock for long enough to escape, or that John Carter will never loose his earthly strength even after years on Mars.
Now, having said that, I still cannot stand Weapons of Unusual Size and Shape (WUSS). As Finn said, this is art, and to me it breaks the flow of the piece. Just like some people have a real issue with modern art (myself included - the assumption that somehow folks who get modern art like wrapping the Riechstag in plastic are better than those of us who feel that its just a waste of plastic is just rude in my opinion), some of us have issues with mini\'s that have WUSS, or thin legs or anything else that doesnt look quite right. My solution to the issue is not to by mini\'s I dont like. Hell yes, I am a picky SOB when it comes to buying minis, but its my money to spend, and nothing I have seen would make me buy something I dont like. So, the whole argument comes down to personal preference, and will go on until the heat death of the universe, but thats why we\'re all here, aint it?
I have to admit a certain bias. Mr Moorcock is in my top 5 favourite author list and the \'Eternal Champion\' features equally highly in my favourite character list.
Aren\'t you contradicting yourself here to a certain extent though? If you, personally knew that the human race was doomed, and you knew that you would be a recurrent feature in that damnation, alternately saving but ultimately condemning humanity (and a few other races for good measure) wouldn\'t you be entitled to a slight \'snivel\'. Isn\'t that realism? Or should the Eternal Champion just wander round happily whacking people?

Actually, and honestly...I think one of the biggest buzzes is to lose an argument and discover that someone else\'s argument has more merit than your own. Opens up whole new worlds of thought...

I really dislike huge oversized weapons, but then I actually use them sometimes, and I\'m really bad for picking holes in things, the first Matrix sent my SoDM* into fits.
I have noticed though that weapons that are actually in scale for 28mm models look far too small. I\'m happy with a compromise.

To the first question I\'d say it depends on who is trying to kill whom. If the fencer is defending, he can keep running away and maybe try a poke here and there while the knight gets tired. But if the knight gets to stand his ground I\'d vote on the knight. I was an epee fencer in college. I\'d never try to parry a broadsword though. As for Agincourt, any time you have a unit of well trained archers against a group of leaderless, surly pompous gits on horseback trying to charge across a field of deep mud you\'re going to have a lot of dead horses and if they then decide to run in all that armor you have a lot of exhausted men dropping dead.
Anyway, the model in question doesn\'t have an epee, she has a giant\'s cricket bat for a sword and that thing isn\'t for poking into tiny holes between peices of armor.
To the last point, good one. One of my favorite minis in my collection (yet to be painted) is Zoid the Pinhead Barbarian. But he\'s a farcical mini. Perhaps the Fianas are farcical too?

I\'d agree with this. It\'s a scale/visual scale issue. For a different example, statues mounted atop churches or high on walls have hugely oversized heads but it doesn\'t look that way from down on the ground. Just don\'t stand next to one.

If its the one I have, its from Ral Partha - not a lot of help I know, but thats where my Pinheaded barbarian came from.

Yes, Steelcult probably has the same one. He\'s from Ral Partha, I think the 88 on the base referst to the date. he was part of a series of humorous ones they did which included the dwarf with inferiority complex (in my gallery) and Doombunny the Black Rabbit of Death. I don\'t recal the whole set but they are named in Stuff of Legends though with no pictures.Originally posted by finn17

That would be the one I have, I also have a couple of the other ones you mentioned there Vince - the dwarf, and the doom bunny. I also have the Kindly Wizard and the Aerial Servant.
