Leaves & 90mm

mickc22

Granddad!
I\'ve just had a customer ask me if my leaves are compatible with 75mm & 90mm minis.
I said they should be ok still with the 75mm, but I wasn\'t sure about the 90mm as I don\'t have anything in this scale to compare them too.

Any of you guys got any idea or better still some leaves and a 90mm mini :D

Yes they will be, if they are smaller leafs. Just tell them to use the larger ones (which are way oversized for 28mm).

Alternatively tell them its fantasy so the leaves can be any damn size they want, or that its a little toy soldier and who cares?

larger catkins may be OK. Tricky to say. I would say yes, but it all depends on what type of leaf someone hopes to represent

Dude... I\'m loving your leaves. :D

Would those make it through Aussie customs? Are they treated n such to stop little parasites and nasties coming into the country?

I had some H&A stuff get stuck at quarantine the other day, the only way I can get it out is to get a declaration from H&A stating what they are made of and what temperature they are treated at or some such.
Makes me sad. :(

@Zordana : that\'s strange. Trevor sent me some a while back and I had no problem getting them (thanks again Trevor, they\'re awesome :)).

I think the problem is the leaves coming into australia.

That said, ive ordered Ivy and Foliage before and haven\'t had a problem. I suspect they are clamping down around christmas time.

I had the option to pay $45 to have them returned to my friend in NZ or destroyed. Really upset me because one of the packets was the H&A autumn leaf litter, which I can\'t seem to find anywhere.

If I ordered some of these from you at a later date, mick, would you be able to shove them inside a magazine or something and just neglect to mention that they are in the package? lol

Well, to the original question - I think it\'s fine for 90mm, at 28 or 32, the leaves are actually really huge, but still look fine since our eye sort of adjusts to make it fit, at 90mm I think they should actually be about right

As for Z\'s problem...what OTHER leaves are you importing to make them watch you :]

Since the H&A stuff was origionally intended for 54mm figurs I dont think 90mm would be an issue. But tell your customer to check the dried flowers sold at craft stores. Thats another good source for plant life.

Zordana- Do the open every package coming into australia? or just look at the customs form.. Id have mick mark them as hobby supplies. Plus his leaves are cheap and postage on one package shouldn be bad..worth trying out on one bag.

As for other sources for leaves..try basil or tea leaves.

Yeah I might just give it a go after the christmas \'rush\'. Those leaves are so lovely. Im not sure if they open them or not, ill have to ask my friend what she wrote on the form.

I don\'t like using herbs, I don\'t like the look of them. The ivy shaped leaves (birch?) are my favourites. :)

Granddad!
Thanks everyone, I was thinking they should be OK as they are quite big for 28mm. At the end of the day leaves come in all sizes don\'t they
@Zordana:Well I\'ve been sending them all round the planet; USA, France, Germany, no ones told me of any problems at customs so far
I do add some disinfectant to the coloring actually, and I dry them in the oven on gas Mk4 (180C?). They then get a final hand sorting to remove the last few stalks. There are definately no bugs in them when I\'m done. :D

@ Zordana

I got mine sent with minis from the CMON store, but I did have a worry they might be stopped.

I would imagine if they were sent in a package with general hobby supplies or whatever they would be ok.

Failing that I still have heaps left so I can post you some.

agree with you Eric......they are overscale for 28mm really but still look cool when handled correctly.

these may be good for larger (54mm+) size:

I think I should buy them off you from now on, at least I can reach you if they get stopped and you can write a declaration for the stupid quarantine people. :)
Any ideas how much the postage to australia would be for a 1 or 2 packets? Or several? Ill make an order after xmas.

You know, its a shame I didnt know you made them earlier, im beginning to get real worries about the ivy I ordered for me and a friend recently. Im just waiting for that second quarantine letter

Trev, if you have any of the H&A autumn leaves (leaf litter?) I will gladly pay you for them :D

Granddad!
I\'ve set the P&P for international orders on ebay at £1.50 for the first packet then .50 for each packet after that. So far that\'s worked out about right.

Sometimes it(ebay) adds it up right, but sometimes it doesn\'t, if it charges you £1.50 for each packet, don\'t pay straight away, it\'s easier to change the invoice than refund the excess (less charges too), I\'ve had to do that twice already, don\'t like doing refunds :( :D
I could put the decleration in with your order, just in case, if you want. Just put a reminder in the notes when you place your order

cheers

Nice postage prices! :)
That settles it, im making a purchase with you after the silly season. I\'m just annoyed that I hadn\'t come across your leaves on ebay before.
Mind if I put a link to your leaves on my website later too?

Ooh I like your style! *shooter mcgavin gun finger wink thingy*

I\'d have never thought of that. :D

Sure Irene, a link would be great. Once I\'m finished my website I\'ll link to Tiny Souls as well.
Eventually I\'m hoping to have an online store for the Vallejo MC as well as the leaves and a few other bits and bobs, so I wont have to rely on ebay so much
