Hi,
Love these pieces. Your style is excellent on them.

Like Lono I would love to see, a miniature of 28mm or 50mm painted by yourself, to see how your techniques translate down sizes.

Again not trying to take anything from your work, in this scale you are the paint master, but again as Lono has expressed a number of areas are very flat with natural light giving the shading and highlight. Interested in seeing something where you have to create the lightsource.

As for which one to paint in WIP got to be the slayer guy.

Oh and a very merry welcome

- Talion,

As I said on my first posting quote \"Hi, I started out painting 25/28 mm Ral Partha , Dragon Tooth Miniatures .I also painted a diorama for the cover of Dragon Tooth Miniatures catalog years ago . I now mainly paint the larger scales but I still have a passion for the minis!\"

The smallest I paint at this time is 90 mm. I find that you will find the older you get the lager your scales tend to get.

I like to make it clear that I just don\'t paint base colors and hope the light hits it correctly. I paint the relief in different tone values;the deeper areas go darkest; the high areas go lighter and the middle tones for the in-between areas. I don\'t paint permanent highlights. Keep in mind that the fix light concept was originally designed and intended for canvas 2D work .

Please note that I\'m not trying to sell my style of painting for the minis or for that fact any scale. I\'m just trying to show you my style of painting and the results I achieve with it.

Do I think it will it work with the minis? I believe so , but you will have to try it and decide for yourself.

The bottom line is that one should not be artistically locked into any scale but feel free to explore large and small scales as all have something to offer.

Thanks for your remarks and incites

Granddad!
Welcome Alex,
I\'ve got your book, and found it very informative, plenty of pics easy to read and follow
I have had a go at your 2 stage priming on a 54mm John Wayne, the silver does give a smoother finish, just gotta be careful applying it.
(no he\'s not finished, before the rest of you ask lol )

I first spray the sliver on a piece of paper and hand brush all the deep relief areas so as not to sit on these areas when spraying, I then apply it in a spray turn or spin, spray turn or spin approach in a sort of dusting stroke and stop as soon as you see color coverage, that’s all.

A few points about this silver are that it reveals imperfections and allows you to repair and then repaint without re priming the whole piece, this primer is very thin but has enough tooth to grab hold and act as a good ground for the white acrylic.

This is a system of opposition because one is enamel and the other water base acrylic you can remove the top coat without havening to remove the base coat. I can only speak for the results with theses two products that I have worked well for me over the years, Krylon 1401 Bright Silver and Tamyia acrylic FX-2 which I hand brush in all the deep relief areas so as not to sit on these areas when airbrushing.

This system is designed for display figures of all scales, it is not designed for figures that going to be overly handed like board pieces.
If you have any questions or problems with this priming system doesn’t hesitate to PM or e-mail me.

Thanks for your interest in my book.

P.S. Question are the Krylon 1401 Bright Silver and Tamyia acrylic paints products difficult to obtain in the UK and Europe and are they expensive ?

speaking for the UK Tamiya no problem to get hold of...Krylon I ain\'t found anyone yet but I ain\'t been loking long....

I\'m thinking of trying the two step thing on a resin piece I\'m about to work on in theory it seems it would be a good answer to priming resin that can be a pain...The additional fact of showing up perfections well is another good call on resin all those damn bubbles will let you know how it goes....
couldn\'t get Krylon but got a Tamiya silver .. so I just dust lightly with the feather of the spray ???

I don’t recommend using the Tamyia sliver it’ not just the color it’s the way the Krylon 1401 Bright Silver chemically adheres ,the atomization and the scale of its paint particles .

If you can’ find any, try this link . http://www.krylon.com/

Let me know how you make out,

Good luck.

Truly magnificent! Welcome to the community (pretty funny seeing as you have more posts then me, impairments of being a lurker I suppose :D )

On a side note, referring to yourself as \"master\" reeked a little bit of douche bag to me. Let your work speak for you, after all titles are completely point of view orientated; i.e. one persons king is another persons tyrant.

Hope to see more of your work soon
;)

@DH: I did get an enamel silver, I don\'t have the can any more so I\'m note sure who\'s it was. I recall it being a small (150ml?) so it most likely to have been a Humbrol spray.
Try Radio Control shops
I\'ll keep an eye out on my travels

oh well off to work :sigh:

-Pip Boy83,

Thanks for the welcome,
I came to this forum to contribute in any way I can.

That being said, I like to see some work by you as well.
