Okey dokey...

NMM stands for \'non metallic metal\' the art of simulating a metallic finish without using metallic paints..

SENMM stands for \'sky-earth non metallic metal\' Same thing, but with really reflective surfaces such as chrome, where thay reflect the scenery in front of them..ie sky and earth.

Use the \'search\' feature on the forums to find out more. Or investigate some of the \'articles\' on site that go into detail about how to obtain these effects.

And here I though SENNM stood for Super-Evil Non-metal Metal. Evil \'cause I can\'t even do regular NMM!

I detect an anti-Rackham contingent exists here on the forum. I\'ve seen a couple of off-handed comments of late. Being a relative newcomer NSA, can you tell me if this is the general consensus or just a small group of posters? ???

I know the GW issue is pretty much split down the middle, which is fine, but I kinda like Rackham minis.:(

I mean, really, how can you ever have TOO MANY FIANNA\'S?:D

You CAN have too many female Fianna...
because they all look like they have to pee really bad. The line to the bathroom would be toooooo long. :p

I actually love Rackham figures. They\'re pretty, even though I\'ve had to resculpt areas of certain minis that appear to have vanished during casting, or been covered up by mysterious lumps of metal.... and the fact that I haven\'t found a fool proof way of shipping the finished product safely, even though NONE of my minis from other companies (we\'re talking lots of minis, mind you) ever break or bend in shipping, but I still love Rackham figures. :)

I don\'t mind most Rackham minis... but Fiannas really get on my goat. They\'re skinny, awkward, toting ridiculously oversized weapons with scrawny arms. They just exemplify the ultimate ludicrous \"chick in chain mail\" stereotype, without the po-mo irony the stereotype has recently been reclaimed under. And in my opinion they just look plain dorky.

Fiannas were what was on my mind when I made the comment referenced in Fizl\'s signature - \"nobody deserves to be sculpted in the \'Rackham style\'\".

Hah! I changed my sig, though, so I\'m no longer playing the drinking game. It was getting too expensive, anyways. ;)

As for tweening, \'tis a layering/blending thing that I do. Search is your friend (and now that it\'s no longer in my sig, it won\'t pull up every thread in which I\'ve posted! ;))

So you prefer the gelatinous J-Lo asses on the Celtos stuff?:D

Or would you rather Reaper\'s War Maidens (Chainmail bikinis) or Sisters of the blade (fur bikinis)?

I enjoy female barabrians (who wouldn\'t?), and if I had my way they would have Reaper\'s detail, I-Core\'s shapes, and Rackham\'s size. The last one is important to me because I picture Amazons being very tall, and the others just don\'t have that. The Reaper \"**** of the blade\" line is actually smaller then most of their stuff. More like wood-elf women.

So in this case, to me anyway, size matters.:D

And as far as huge weapons go, isn\'t everybody doing it that way now?

As far as mini sentiments go I think most people are in the \"If I like it, I like it\" category, not really slamming any maker (although GW has a fair number of haters, oddly enough many of whom seemed to have worked for them at one point... lol ).

Personally I have mostly GW stuff, coz I used to play their games lots, but CMON has introduced me to Rackham, Reaper, Haselfree and Dark Ages of which I have a small but growing collection.
I find that there isn\'t any manufacturer I hate everything or like everything they do (although I have to say Hasselfree have a very high \"like\" score).

Personally, I love the fiannas, alhough I don\'t have any. CMON introduced me to Rackham and I was stunned at the gorgeous fiannas... then everyone seemed to be painting them. They became common and simply yet \'another mini\'. The Red Lioness went the same way, but I do have that mini.

It\'s such a pity when these beautiful sculpts are spread around like marmalade instead of being savoured. But that\'s bound to happen - everyone will paint what they want to paint and the sculpts will become another song played too often.

Don\'t like the oversized fianna weapons? Then take a look at the llanyfhs.

Wish Rackham would make some 54mm special editions....

It\'s fantasy! Personally I love to see characters with blades that look as though they could only manage to swing \'em once!

Personally,

I really like all the Rackham sculpts and the Fiannas are amongst my favourites. They do appear to demand a high level of painting skill to look good however.

Me thinks we\'re just used to Rackham minis getting amongst the best and none of the worst paint jobs around. Any Rackham that\'s painted below an 8 looks like a crappy Rackham. With all the gamers who throw paint at GW, we\'re used to GW figs getting 4\'s and 5\'s. Not disagreeing with you, but it\'s just another factor.

BTW, RedMagesHat, we do tend to go off on a tangent some of the time. Not often, just once every two threads of so. It\'s normal when finn hasn\'t been administering the meds like he should.
