I am on vacation from yesterday till the end of the year, meaning I will have some time to paint, even thou my progress is really slow, I need time to find out how to do this colored freehand.

So started on the top of the head:

Right horn, sketching the left horn and painting it (horn base color is 2:1:1 VMC Japanese Uniform, Basic Skintone, Black Red, highlighted with Basic Skintone, shaded with Black Red then usual shade):

Head is more or less ready, continuing with shoulder and sword.

Adding the flames and the tongue:

Furthermore I tried to add water to the base.

- Test with a dummy base was working perfectly
- First try with the base: all the resin leaked out at the bottom
- Second try: half of the resin leaked out. I still do not understand this, I expected all the leaks to be plugged in.
- Third try: Still some of the resin leaked out, but it looks kind of ok to me for now.

Important question: Can anybody tell me how can I make the side of the resin transparent???

Edit: AK GAUZY AGENT GLASS COAT is this working?

according to MV, yes, it will work, but first do a bit of sanding (800 then 1200 then 2000 grit).
Basically you polish the surface, then use the gloss to plug all the tiny holes and make it smooth.

MAXXxxx:

Thanks, I did not remember where did I read about it, I just remembered that it was some kind of AK product. It was already sanded with 600/1200/2500. Vallejo Gloss Varnish did not work, neither with AB nor with normal brush.

Adding the left hand:

Thanks, Foxtail!

TBH I do not feel it to be sooo difficult, the hardest part was to believe in myself (I read an article/blog entry about the "freehand monster" a couple of weeks ago, where believing that you can do it is half the job, does anybody remember it?)

So here is the more or less ready bloodletter:

Next:

- Fixing the metal poles
- Assembling the mini
- Put together the base

Thanks, CC!

MAXXxxx, sorry, I have no energy nor the reach for the inner places to update the poles, but I think I found out how to do it next time.

And here is the somewhat assembled mini so far (3 pieces now, banner, lord and base).
Waiting for that gauzy stuff to finish the base:

And a question: how to cast black gypsum/ceramic cube?

get a siliocone 'muffin' tray, that's cube shaped and use it as a mold for gypsum, then paint it black.
(something like: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Wilton-E...-Size-Silicone-Mold-Square-2105-4890/24548085 )
The only problem is finding one of a usable size (the one above is not high and probably not large enough (38mmx38mmx19mm), but you could try glueing 2 on top of each other)

(or you could build one needed size from lego blocks and sand the surface flat before painting it black.)

but I think you might want to have a wooden block. Fastest way from HU: ask a carpenter to cut some needed blocks for you.

On the -2nd day of Christmas Father Nurgle gave to me
1 bronchitis
10 days of fever
15 days of illness
30 days (at least) of coughing

so I could not paint and update my wip.

But here is the finished Chaos lord, received gold on Hungarian Games Day in category Characters (Open), title says "End of conquest":

Thanks, MAXXxxx, for the suggestion on the poles, I finally repainted them!

That Gauzy Agent work more or less well, but I am not 100% satisfied with it.
When I applied it from AB, the stuff dried in small and uneven dots on the surface, and it was not clean and transparent.
When I applied it by brush, small bubbles (it is bubbling as hell, when you shake it!) and some strokes appeared on the surface.

Anybody has any experience with it?

Congratulations on the awards! The standard bearer looks fantastic, excellent job on the banner freehand and love your technique for this...very clever. Adore that freehand on the back of the pan display as well...really nice touch.
