TBH I put away this project, too, as I wished to do a model for Golden Gobbo, the local competition (yes, still working on my backlog).
Was thinking, especially on a mini where I can add some freehand, choose Lazarus.
I bought some artistic paints, experimenting with them. As the mini will be green, choose magenta as shade color, and used opposite color yellow to work around with.
So
- the armor became ~2-3:1 mix of Schmincke Vanadium Deep Yellow:Schmincke Phtalo Green Blue Shade, shaded with 1:1 mix of Schmincke Quinacridone Magenta:VMC Black, highlighted with 3:1 Schmincke Titanium White:Schmincke Vanadium Deep Yellow. I am really not satisfied with the green, and found out, why, there is no good, saturated, opaque green pigment.
- the "white" cloth became ~6-8:1 mix of Schmincke Titanium White:Schmincke Quinacridone Magenta, highlighted with white, shaded with 1:2 mix of Schmincke Quinacridone Magenta:VMC Black. And tried painting with a zillion small lines, to imitate threads.
- the gold is 2-3:1 Schmincke Vanadium Deep Yellow:Schmincke Cadmium Orange, highlighted and shaded like the armor
- the copper is pure Schmincke Cadmium Orange, highlighted and shaded like the armor. I was surprised how good copper this became.
- and as contrasting spot color, for steel I used ~6-8:1 VMC Black:VMC Blue, highlighted with pure white.
- and finally for the red, as there are no Kimera shop in the near, bought some Liquitex Naphtol Crimson, cause it seemed to me that they have the same pigments, highlighted with 1:1 mix of Schmincke Titanium White:Schmincke Cadmium Orange, shaded as the armor.
