Oh and just remembered used a lttle yellow paint on the birds beak as the ink was way too bright and any other colour added just made it a bit dirty.

Well, strictly the inks aren\'t ink anyway... they are acrylic based so I can\'t see any problem with exclusively using them to paint a complete figure.

Ink is a dye mixed with shellac
Ink is much more widely defined than that. That\'s just one type of ink.

While it is significant that kind is coloured with dyes instead of pigments it isn\'t a defining factor on what makes something an ink. Many of us already know about pigment-based inks from some high-end inkjet printers so there\'s another type of ink. The magazines on every rack everywhere are also printed using inks (in that case they\'re very much like oil paint, but still called ink by the trade). The coloured plastic bags we use are also printed with inks, but again very different to any of the others.

I was making the assumption that avelorn wasn\'t intending to use printer\'s ink, inkjet ink etc to paint his mini. I use shellac/dye based inks from time-to-time to glaze etc, and with the exception of its lightfastness, it\'s a pretty useful medium. The distinction I was making in my other post is that the inks I\'m guessing he\'s referring to - citadel, rowney etc - are pigment/acrylic based, so therefore it should be straightforward to use for a complete paintjob on a figure.

Having said that, never rule anything out - using printer\'s ink may become the next big thing lol

btw... you forgot to mention the octopus in your list lol

(no need to respond, I was joking)
