i like how this is coming...however i feel the purple cloth is not workign with the piece as a whole. you see the really nice blended colors on the yellowish/brown cloth and then purple lines on the other. to me it feels like combining nmm with metallics on the same miniature. i feel like since doing your sigvald you have gone up another notch in painting and to use this technique reminds me of older techniques you used to use more prevalently. please know i say these things with the utmost respect, if i could paint half as good as you i\'d be applying to GW. :D other than that....the rest of this model looks top notch.

I assume it\'s supposed to be a texture to the cloth, and not poor blending.

i see what your saying ritual... but at least for me its not translating that way into my head. possibly because the gerbils and hampsters are fighting over a piece of brain in my noggin. hehe.

How do you get the paint to flow off of your brush well enough do paint the textured clothing? Great job the way. :)

I really dig the textured cloth look. Of course you\'ve done it superbly and I look forward to seeing more.

I paint my thumb.
Looking good so far... not as impressive as Sigvald but, that\'s just cause you set the standard so very high....
I\'m in \"How d\'you do the texture cloth\" camp :D

Things have been a little slow because I\'ve been churning out the commissions :( But spring break is next week so I\'ll have plenty of time available for painting!

@Alien: I just use water to thin my paints. All I can say is that you should have a brush with a very good point and not to overload it with too much paint.

I plan on making a fabric texture tutorial at some point, as soon as I get a bit of free time :) Stay tuned

Thanks everyone,

-Matt

If you can\'t join \'em, beat \'em!

No update on the ork, but I\'ve got a new WIP that I think is a little bit... better :D (and more challenging to myself).

Oh, and there\'s going to be a ton of pictures posted in the Bretonnian thread tomorrow, for any of you who have been missing that. I\'ve been too busy to snap pictures lately lol

So, I\'ve been working on this guy off and on lately (It could have something to do with the recent release of Terminator 4 lol). Maybe a week or so, i\'m not sure. An hour here and there, basically. I\'m trying out painting NMM Razza-style (those characteristic white dot highlights) with a bit of my own twist. Having a lot of fun with it.

looking really good matt, im really impressed. especially you see a lot of painters who start becoming successful, (like in golden demon for example) and they dont get much better then how they started, but you just keep bringing new pieces that are better and better. yeah i liked sigvald but this is on a totaly new lvl. the blends on this are with razza and the execution is pretty much there. evy metal is out of there minds not to take somebody like you! oh well matt this is awesome. cant wait to see it finished up!

oh and matt, would suggest putting some sort of edged necron letter or rune or something in the gold center of his body, it just lacks the extra detail that razza puts into his models like that kinda stuff thats gonna keep it from getting 9.6 or above.

Loving the gold NMM, the silver looks a little plain but i think it wont when the rest of the model is together and painted. I agree though that some sort of symbol/rune needs to be put in the gold bit on his chest.

wow, just wow......

but i must agree with what has been said before, the model needs breaking up, at the very least some sort of symbol on the chest.

maybe something more to break up the silver too, on some of the larger surfaces....
or not, depending on what you are planning for the rest of the model....
