Congrats! I'm sure it feels weird, but when you put in the effort it shows - and maybe others will step up next year so you don't dominate again. Perhaps you inspired a few and started something. The only way to know is to show up and defend your title next year :p

Congrats Maxxx and to echo Zab maybe your entries will push some of the others to strive for something more.

Great news Maxx and well done on the win. As weird as it may feel, you can only beat the opponent that is infront of you, and let's say you managed that.
also, you didn't get all golds, so it perhaps shows there was a level of competition out there. Here's to more success.

hmm, end of year, so getting lazy beyond compare and no painting is planned until january, BUT I'd like to ask for help from anyone who can:
I'd need 300dpi scans of the 6x4 Kingdom Death cards for the following figures:
- Butcher, Forge god, Forge priest, Forsaker, Gorm, Great game hunter male, King's hand, King's man, King, Lion Knight, Flower Knight, Manhunter, Nightmare Ram, Preacher, Scribe, Sunstalker adult, Survivor male, Twilight Knight, TK deserter, TK order, TK relic, White lion.

Some of these should be in the KD-KS when it delivers, but I can't know that for sure, but I'd like to collect the scans of these.

thanks for any help.

New year, new busts...

first is Zero from Monkey Forge. The lining on the cloth has to be reworked as it's too light.
Basically all I wanted is a dark (black) clothed sub-zero, with blind eyes.

Second is an ork head from a friend I got, no idea why really. As far as I know it's a 3d scan + enlarge + 3d print of grazhkul or something like that.
The blue part is a cheat as I didn't manage to get rid of the seamline. So I decided to make it part of the sculpt :D

and while I know it's not nice, but some boasting, how the prize-shelf looks like atm.:
View attachment 33884

The goblins are from GD-Hungary.
The 4 non-goblin ones on the left are from MMS. (Moson Makett Show) (2 in hobby, 2 in master)
In the middle there are some written ones from online competitions / local GW-shop competition.
And in the middle the current extra prize the "golden spontoon" which is an actual gold plated iron or steel weapon with a wooden handle. (pretty heavy despite the size, not a cheap aluminium one)

do you remember the madness from last year? (alahan army)

I didn't want to repeat it, but looks like I got a challenge, so it looks like this year there will be 2 larger mad projects:
- 1 M61A5 tank from gundam

AND

- 1 Confrontation Vile-Tis army consisting of: Shurat (Char), 5 Marauder (Unit 1), 3 Flesh-eater (Unit 2), 2 Hunter (Artillery), 1 eclipsante(extra), Managarm + Korgan(extra 2). And where I am with this atm?
In the preparation phase, after scraping the mouldline, before pinning + puttiing.

This weekend I'd like to reach the undercoated phase. Won't be easy. I'll mostly stay with the studio scheme, but this time metals will be tmm, not nmm. Base will be kept simple, reddish autnm (forest) base.
The only exception being a 2nd Shurat, that'll get an alternate color scheme and NMM treatment + something different for a base (no idea what atm).

The biggest plus will be: I'll reach 100% painted with the VileTis models.

Sheesh took a week longer to put the evil SM Wolfen together.
Shurat is for now my most hate-to-assemble model.

and I'd need a bit of help in finding minis that I could buy.
What I'm looking for are mostly 54mm+ minis (a few cca 28mm is ok too), that depict humans in a pretty normal way. No weapons, no scifi or fantasy, not oversexualised, no soldiers, no warriors, (mostly) nothing war, just models, that depict pretty normal humans with expressions that could still make them interesting.

Some examples of what I'm looking for:
- JMD Zenobe (already have it)
- Taurus - Autnm Nostalgia (already painted it :) )
- Forged Monkey - Juva
- Painting Buddha - Happy Monk

Nice work on the prizes!

There is always a lot of good/weird 54mm stuff on e-bay. Try a search for Ron Hinote neat 54mm sculptor. Not exactly sure what his story is but really charming, if a little clunky.

And so it begins:

The first more or less ready VileTis model - Korgan:
View attachment 34333

Fun thing I tried making patches of a darker color on the back. Turned out to be really simple to do nice looking ones.
What I did:
- Simply blob in some AP-StrongToneInk (thinned a bit with water)
- wait a few secs, so the ink starts to dry on the edges and rings are formed (the ones we usually try to avoid)
- with a damp brush take away the undried center, so a transition towards the center is formed.
- done

Colors to remember (as later this year I'll have to add 2 Hunters too):

Skin:
- VMC Buff base
- VMC Ivory highlight (Or R NoesisWhite)
- VMC Medium Fleshtone shade
- FW Light Rust pigment as shade 2 (about the same as medium ochre)

Eyes:
- normal + light glaze of VMC Transparent yellow

Fur:
- VGC Parasite Brown base
- AP SoftToneInk shade
- VMC Ivory highlight

Metals:
- VAC Gun base
- VAC Steel highlight
- VAC Black shade
- AP StrongToneInk glaze

Leather:
- VMC LeatherBrown base
- VMC Ivory highlights

Armor (plan only):
- VMC Hull Red base
- VAC Black shade
- VMC DarkSeaGrey highlight
- VMC SkyGrey highlight

Claws:
- GW Bestial Brown base
- VGC CobraLeather highlight
- VMC Buff highlight
(- VMC Ivory if needed, but unlikely)

some progress in the "loathed model" :)

Colors blocked in + 1 wash (vgc-bestial brown + devlan mud , vmc-buff)
View attachment 34945

first refinement with Rackham beast-flesh on the skin. Until now I never noticed, that it's that much matter and redder.
View attachment 34946

first light with some Rackham noesis white added to the beastly flesh. And some experiment on the head/hands with some vmc-sky grey added. The jump is too big, especially photoed with a flash. Without the flash it doesn't seem to be that different from the previous color, so I might wait until I take a normal pic with the correcting (or wait until the end to correct any mistakes and such things)
View attachment 34947

I'm not progressing as fast as I would like, but still ok, about 1 new color added / day. :)

and some cry for help:
- what base should I make for it? I have NO idea.
- how to differentiate the leather straps from the skin??? (looks like the different tones in Rackham paints might solve this automatically, but maybe there is a better option)
- will the skin need a DARK color for shade? thinking about dark-sea-blue :)
- trims... gold,silver or bronze?

Personally, I never like the garish results a flash gives. Never looks close to irl.

So knowing this, I'm sure that the transitions look great. Even in the pic, the paws look pretty good.

Dark sea blue is the perfect shade, I think.

Think about making the leather straps a different color than brown. Nothing wrong with making them blue leather. Google automaton's gallery for many examples of this.

For his base, consider the classic rocky edge that wolves howl from in the classical sense.

He is coming along nicely Max.

You could have him bursting through a wall, with that pose he has, or bursting through some trees.
