I'm liking the look of the shorts, probably with a short shirt as well. Not sure about having a single longer pant leg, though that would make for a much more unique figure. I never understood the one pant leg longer than the other idea though, so my opinion on that may be somewhat void.

I also asked on other forums. looks like most are for cropped shirt and full pants.

so it's time for some serious putty work as the pants having gaps is an understatement.

so this is how it'll assemble: View attachment 45192

ooo joy. last 3 evenings:
- 1 evening cutting + glueing the 2 anime kits (the Tohno one and the one for the flesh faire )
- 2 evenings of gap filling with milliput on the kits...
- today 5 hours of sanding...

what remains on the prep phase:
- washing the pieces
- priming them with 2 colors (black then white)

- if I see any problems, again sanding and repriming until it's ok... this can take a LONG time.

Yikes! That's a lot of prep work. I assume some of it is because you're going for a good quality finished product. But where does the rest come from? Poor joint fitting?

- yes, trying to get a good quality product
- big resin kits usually have some warpage, and because of that not really good fittings.
- both are garage kits based on PVC models, so basically recasts. That doesn't help either
- because of size they'll be painted with an AB and that makes every small mistake very visible and very hard to correct (basically stripping, correcting, repainting is the only option)
- one of the figures (for WM's contest) is naked. ANY seam/mouldline on the skin ruins it, so extra care in prep is needed. And the body is made from 4 parts, so 3 joins have to be made invisible.
- the clothes (trouser) on the other figure... fits really bad. The lower part on the right leg is really bad: it fits to the top part, but there is a 5mm gap on one side and a 3mm on the other. (probably could have saved time and putty if I'd tried to bend it with after heatin it with a hairdrier, but too late for that)

I didn't realise that some garage kits were recasts.

I'm sure that all of the hard work will pay off in the finished product.

this is how they look atm.

as you can see no matter how good the puttywork was, the primer showed that the joins are not smooth enough, so sanded the whole until the primer in the gap disappeared. In theory if I reprime now there won't be any visible gap.

on the bottom is the trouser. the yellow thing is the milliput. Quite rough for now, not sanded yet. it might require some extra putty on top to get it perfect (altough here it's not as important as on the naked figure, small gaps on clothes are not that irritating than on smooth skin.

now to do this priming hell with the head, hair and the other figure....

That's a ton of prep work, but I am sure it will be worth it.

Looking forward to seeing your entry.

So took that primed+sanded body, reprimed, joins weren't perfect, so resanded and reprimed again.

Almost. The joins are ok (I can't see them), but there is a dent on the arm, when it fell to the ground from the holder + still a mouldline at the armpit.... so those 2 have to be fixed... again fill/sand/prime, but I feel this will be the last one for this figure.

Apart from the two areas you mention she's looking much better. Your hard work and patience has obviously paid off.

Truly a hard work Max. I am sure it will payoff when you start painting her. Gap on those trousers is enormous!!

Basic AB on Wakana done.

View attachment 45408

to do:
- some shading / picking out details on the shoes
- Fixes on the pants (especially on the pink colored sides
- Patterns on the shirt and pants
- some changes to the belly
- nails and some trims on the shirt to red
- eyes
- in general making shadows stronger/colored with pastels / pigments (this will take the longest time I think)

can't wait for Feb to do the same AB on the Mizuho figure I have for WM's Flesh Faire challenge/competition/whatever.
