How much do I suck? I was cycling to work this morning (for the second time ever!), hit a curb at the wrong angle and went flying into the pavement face first. I hit my right knee, my left elbow (how does that work?), I\'m growing a new, painful, chin and I got a nosebleed. Thank all the gods, I was wearing my cycle helmet. Better dork than dead.

Bah! I always said exercise was dangerous! :cussing::cussing::cussing::cussing:

More than likely. :) It really wouldn\'t be difficult to be more competent than me on a bike. The last time I rode a bike before I bought this one has to be at least 10 years ago. I had had a nice long ride on Tuesday (er, I got lost), which helped me to get used to cycling again, but I guess I still need a bit more practice. I hope it doesn\'t put me off- with a sedentary job like mine, I need all the exercise I can get.

Ouch!! At least you weren\'t spitting out teeth... Sorry to hear about the accident. As Alex said, don\'t let it put you off, though...

Ouch! Well you could be worse off, a couple scrapes is easily mended. Glad you were wearing a helmet.

I had a couple wipe-outs when I used to ride my Go-Ped (it\'s a gas-powered scooter you stand up on, mine went about 25 miles per hour). Thankfully I was wearing a helmet too :) But that was probably 6 or 7 years ago. Now I\'d probably have common sense not to ride an engine on two very small wheels. lol

With gas prices this bad, I\'ve been tempted to pick up a new bike. My old one is maybe 10 years old and total trash.

But since I paint commissions at home I don\'t need to drive/ride to work. I would only use it to get to the college (not too bad as it\'s 1.5 miles away) or to the local game store, but riding there would certainly not help the LGSS (Local Game Store Smell) lol

Ouch is about right! You\'re right, I am lucky; it could have been much, much worse. I shudder to think how much worse. Fortunately, I seem to have very tough bones and a hard head. Thank goodness for milk! Just called my mum and told her, and she got to say \"I told you so!\" She thinks I should have bought a car, I think she\'s missing the point. O well, it\'s just like getting back on a horse after a fall, and I always managed that ok. Just have to wait until I have a functional knee again.

That go-ped sounds lethal! Mind you, I\'m in no position to talk... Ew! LGSS! :|~lol

And then everbody is like are you alright? And you keep telling them not to worry etc.. lol even when its your fault...

Alex

@AW I crash most weeks (mostly cos of crappy bike) it does get easier and easier..

One tip, if a car cuts you up or try to get in your way hit the top of the car with your hand, it scares the shit out of the driver and doesnt damage the car..

@Alex- Here\'s a funny story relating to scaring the shit out of drivers...

A couple friends and I were walking across a parking lot once to grab a bite to eat, and a car sped up so that they would not have to stop while we were crossing the lane. We walked a bit faster to beat the car so we would not have to stop. We yielded to the car but were only about a foot away, and one of my friends let out a very loud screech. I mean VERY loud. The driver slammed on his breaks and thought he must have hit someone, and we simply kept walking. lol

Reminds me of the last time I remember going over the handlebars;

Was going over some bumps in a park, when I reached the last bump.

However, it was also the end of the park, and fell away about 3 or 4 feet, so I slammed on the brakes - unfortunately I was near enough the summit of the hill by this point, and I went over.

However, my cat-like grace and agility saved the day, as I speared toward the ground, forward rolled and stood straight up.

Passersby actually clapped and someone gave me a 9.0 :p

lol Only a 9.0? A trick like that should be at least a 9.5!
