miniature catalog pc software

A while ago somebody posted a message about a program he was developing to enable the user catalog his/her collection of miniatures. Has anyone heard something about this?

I don\'t really want to steal his idea, but I can also try to write a program like that, with your help of course :) (not for programming of course, but rather for things like a list of wanted features, help with testing, etc).

So I\'m just saying that I want to offer my service as a software programmer to make a program to catalog minis. Don\'t know how this will continue, but I think it\'s something we can do, if we work together....

What\'s your opinion on this?

Sounds like a plan to me :D I\'d be in for testing.

And some features like options of marking if it\'s - Still in blister(box) - Yet to prep - prepped and primed- couple of basecoats- half painted - yet to finish - fully painted. They could be clever :)

i think its a wonderful idea...and the idea about what state the mini is in,IMHO should be then broken down to who makes it...but i guess thats an obvious one, i think another section could be something like \"army in progress\"

and maybe have like a picture section, so that uploading to CMON would be all one step

and im sure that my family would be willing to help test!

Well, I like the idea of having all of the minis you own documented by brand, genre, special edition status, unopened blister, etc.

On the other hand, I don\'t know about the whole \"prepped, to be prepped, primer, to be painted thing\". I mean, assuming the catalogue is online, it would be way less trouble to LOOK AT YOUR DESK than to start up the comp and check. :)

i\'d say forge ahead....If anything tackling the same project from two angles might be beneficial....

If I can find some more time I will certainly try to make a first design. But time is very limited these days. If you have visited my site recently you might have read that I\'m working in the house I bought a while back. Hopefully it\'s somewhat finished by the end of the month...

But next week, my (working) holiday is over so I\'ll be returning to the office, where I may find some time to create some designs and note down some thoughts :D

Of course you guys can continue brainstorming :rolleyes:

The thing I really want....

And it\'s prolly not a database per se. Is the ability to be able to print out either, very small labels that could go on the base of each mini or index cards that could contain a essential data and a picture/graphics.

Ok, OK I know the last idea is a physical database, but that\'s what I really want, something portable...

How about scale, manufacturer (obvious, so probably already mentioned) - oh and it may be cool to keep track of what paints/colours were used to paint it :D

Well, that wasn\'t really my intention with that plan. Like some people don\'t keep all their minis on the desk but somewhere buried here and there(Yes, hi to you too finn :D) And if they check their catalog for something they\'re in the mood too paint and find it under Rackham-Devourer-Tyrant of Vile-Tis-Prepped.

Oh, and that gives me an idea.. \"Location\" as in what box, drawer or shelf it is. Like if someone marks their mini boxes as I,II,III,IV,V and so on. You could put \"Box IV\" in location :D

Oh and as mentioned.. it\'d be nice if you could mark if it was Special Edition, Limited or something. Ah yes.. one box where you can fill in notes.. like ideas of colors to paint and so on :D
