I saw the end of the Wizard of OZ last night. One part that always bothered me is when the dog reveals the \"man behind the curtain.\" It is really obvious that the curtain has been tied to the dog\'s collar and that the dog is not pulling it with its mouth.

There is also a part where the lion\'s tail is defiying gravity and swaying around, upright. You can clearly see a fishing line holding it up.

In the old stopmotion days (I like that better than CG) there is also the \'buzzing hair\' effect. For each movement the animator had to touch the model and thus slightly move the hair. The end result is really quite bizzar. The creature\'s hair seeming to move in an erratic way of it\'s own accord. Anybody remember Ray Harrihausen or Willis Obrien? Hopefully not a dying art.

Sure, Jason And The Argonauts and King Kong. O\'Brien practically invented all the techniques and Harryhausen then mastered them. Although Phil Tippet really brought the technique to a whole new level with a good feeling for the craft and modern technology (go-motion and the faked version he had to use for Robocop).

Speaking of everyday items in movies... I don\'t know if you guys had the \"Orion\" series over there (really old - it was called \"space patrol\" [Raumpatrouille]). The Orion is navigated with an iron, thrust is regulated with a water tap, yoghurt cups hang from the ceiling and the planet are painted footballs.
