Worked on the Necron lords base a tad this week. I think it looks decent for a base right now. Any suggestion or should I leave it the way it is?


I've also been watching a lot of Orc Painter Nerds videos. I got to say I really like how he does his stuff. It feels like he explains a bit more then some of the other youtube vids I've seen. His stuff can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/OrcPainterNerd?feature=watch

So I decided to work on something else that was in the backlog that wasn't a GK to get a break from the larger kits. Since I've been watching Tank painting vids and weathering vids that meant painting a tank. So i looked and grabbed a nurgle rhino i had built.

Nurgle stuff is great to practice on because if you mess up, it is still nurgley ! Well most of the time it is....

After It was primed i still had some paint in the brush so I did another. Then i was like "maybe i should do one more and kick them out at the same time"! Then I grabbed the predator I converted. One thing lead to another....



I wanted to give pre-shading a go since I have never tried it before on tank models:


I realized I went a bit heavy on the black so I lightened it up a bit:


I take back what I said about the minitaire paints in zabs log. Mine are just a tad thick, they actually work fairly well with good coverage. At least the ones I have used so far.

Oh, Cass, don't worry. There will be more boobs soon :)

Ooooh space marines! I miss power armor. Are you going to use the ghost tints on the tanks with the preshading?

Hindsight is such an ass sometimes. Two came out ok, the other two, not so much. Tip dry can be a real pain with that stuff.

Bummer. I have heard that it should be left for 24hrs and that you should seal any colors underneath with a clear coat as they can bleed through and muddy the tint.

Went back to the drawing board. No ghost tints. Slow progress is better then no progress:

No, but every one of them is converted in some way. I wanted each one to be a little different, but still have a way to tie into each squad. At first it was just the shoulder pad, but i realized it was kind of hard to tell. So i used a different type of backpack for each group of seven in each squad. I'm not worried about winning or playing or anything. I've had these guys for a while (there are a lot more actually) and it was a nice break from the garage kits. A nice army will break up the display cabinet too.

I think you should change your name Moe "the whirlwind" describes you Lol. half expected to see an entire chapter on display. Cool airbrush usage (show off)...:)

@Cassar Lol. I think "The Whirlwind" title should go to Alexandra. Thanks though :) Most everything will be brushwork of some sort from here on out.

I worked on a ton of stuff today but only one pic to show. Don't ask what I'm doing with the bases yet cause I don't know for sure myself.

I REALLY love the muted dirty tones. I will have to reference this when I dig into my Dark vengeance cultists. It's just the kind of look i would like for them!

Started working on the bases. After i get all the green stuff work done I will modify them as needed. So far so good.

Really like the dingy colour scheme very nurgle ! bases are looking great, is there going to be anything bursting from some of the pustules ?
