The only thing i do not care for is the hair/beard. Seems too even of coverage. Maybe some area highlighting and some other colors added in to a few strands..browns, reds, blondes...

@WGS- thanks mate. yo ho ho and a bottle o rum!

@Digs- Black Sails has been a bit of a disappointment to me. Not enough action and way overboard on the sex (yes I said that, wow!). I do believe I have fallen in love with Maxine and Bonnie Anne though...

@KB- I thought about that, and I considered using a dark blue to highlight just a few areas. But Edward Teach wasn't called "Blackbeard" for nothing. I may yet still, but I'm really really wanting to start a new project and I have been trying to keep to finishing things this year :)

@Tero-Thanks man, Blue is my favorite color. Braveheart is getting closer! I only have to finish his eyes, hair, the metal banding on his shield, the sword, the pommel, the microscopic strings holding his harness and leg warmers together, and the base. You know, the easy stuff lol. I did paint the microscopic rivets holding the leather plates onto his armor but they are very hard to see.

Blackbeard is almost done. I'm happy with the metals, and the "wood look" for the pistol handle. I added some goldish colors to the shoulder things, I don't know the proper name, but I'm happy with those as well.

Agreed,.. Black Sails is falling a bit flat for me too. My wife really likes it, but then again, she really likes all "period pieces". Victorian era stuff is her favorite. I'm a bit more of an "Edo period Japan" guy myself.

I love microscopic, the pirate is getting better and better my only issues are the thing on the hat purple/red is attracting to much the attention, neutralize maybe the effect with another detail that same color somewhere you think fit, and the eyes, sorry I am going to bug everyone and anyone when the eyes I find weird, that is just me. I know eyes are though and that is when you need to be holding your brush with 3 hands if needed. I am very tough on myself with eyes now, I find good eyes to be the most important, I used to be good but not paying to much attention before but nowadays I squeeze the max juice from me when doing eyes.

@Webmonkey- Ya I like the Japanese stuff also over the victorian age drama too. If you don't mind old black and white movies, you should check out Akira Kurosawa's 7 Samurai. The magnificent 7 was based on that movie. The anime Samurai 7 was loosely based on it as well and was pretty good.

@Tero- Yeah the eyes were problematic cause one is all squinty and the other is wide open. I also keep getting weird reflection issues when a take a pic. As for the thing on his hat, I have no bloody clue what that is. I just thought it was something his lass/barwench/wife might have given to him for luck, like a stocking or something. I've seen other depictions with it being pinkish on other renditions so I figured what the hell? What do you think would be a better color?

Really like the mottled look to the hat and leather to the bust gives a worn look to it, braveheart is coming on nicely will you be adding woad to him ?

Well we all seem to be at the same conclusion with Black Sails. I agree with you Moe. Also, is it just me (probably is) but is his beard a little shiney at the moment?

@WGS- yes sir I shall. That's why I have not done the eyes yet.

@Digs- yeah, I think I have too much additives in my black airbrush paint, which I used to brush paint the beard. It's not the black I normally use either but I ran out. I think that's why I get the reflectivity in the eye when I take a pic.

You could try a discord colored green meaning not a strong green a green mixed with a Lil dark brown or dark red then the green will make the reds much nicer due to them complimenting each other and a compliment doesn't mean compliment (spelled complement) meaning the two complementary colors together have all 3 primaries and all 3 primaries means all those wonderful colors displayed makes it more aesthetically pleasing to the viewer try it out you'll see. Great job on it though.

Ok, I redid the eyes and the beard:

And did 4 parts green to one part dark brown for the thing on the hat. I just kept adding the original green to bring up the highlights on it:

Don't hurt me Moe, I am not trying to nit pick but.....is the right eye bigger than the left? Again it just might be the angle of the picture or something but that beard looks a lot less shiney now :)
