I scoff at your puny attempts, mortal. It became clear to me at a very young age that I was descended from a god-like line of people.
Do you know why that is, Darth?......Because my sisters are completely impervious to fire!! Yes, that is right, cower before me and my titanic kin!! When I was only 4 or 5, they would entertain me with astounding feats....*drops voice to a whisper* They could pass their fingers through a candle flame without feeling a thing! Of course, they never passed their entire bodies through a fire, but I\'m sure that was from modesty rather than any lack of ability. I haven\'t actually tested my fire retardent abilities yet, but the next time we have a bonfire, I will prove my godliness!! :D

...yeah.

Actually, that \"flick\" noise you typed was very intimidating.....:D

Just remember...stop drop and roll! :)

I haven\'t even seen braveheart, and at least I know what it\'s about! (Or, like to think so):

Mel Gibson stars as the legendary hero William Wallace. The English guy Lawndart or something was all like \"We must take over the Scots because western civilazation needs a reason fro manifest destiny!\". And Mel was all like\" You can\'t stop us from wearing kilts, painting our faces blue and singing at the pub in the wee hours of the morning!!\" The Mel got really mad and made this speach where he started yelling \"FREEDOM!! FReeeEEDOM! GIMME BACK MY SON!\". And then he does this thing where he waits until the English are about to charge and kill them all and the scots lift up pikes and skewer them..

Well, that\'s what I\'ve heard anyways... :p

eee, Sandra Bullock\'s never been one of my favourites. \'28 Days Later\' though, that gave me the willies :) Still, and I saw it in October.

I know the movie-rentin\' deadline\'s been and gone, but, for future movie-block:

I second the \'Equilibrium\' motion - suprisingly good even though it starts a little poorly. Sean Bean tends to be cool.

Comedy - try \'Amelie\' - it\'s a quirky sweet little french movie that is extremely funny in a lot of ways. The narrator speaks quickly though so if you\'re a slow reader, unless you understand spoken french, watch the subtitles closely at those points.

If you\'re in the mood for something dumb, \'Death Machine\' is a classic :) For dumb comedy, I rather like \'Bring it On\' - a) cheerleaders, whee! b) kinda tongue-in-cheek so bizarrely appealing (I know there\'s an obvious joke there, old pervs need not apply :D )

Anything Tarantino tends to be a good watch (Jackie Brown was much better than I thought it would be). Jeunet and Caro (Amelie, Delicatessen, City of Lost Children) are good.

Run Lola Run (Lola Rennt) is definitely worth seeing - I\'m not sure what category it comes under, but it\'s very watchable, if short. I generally don\'t like big dramas since I\'m usually getting out movies to veg a bit - it\'s not one of those.

Just saw a funny little movie called The Big Empty with Jon Favreau in it - again, kinda quirky. And hey, Sean Bean\'s in that one too! I\'m sounding like I have a crush - I just think he\'s good. I *actually* have a sorta-crush on Johnny Depp which seems to be fairly standard for women in my age group. If you want funny with a need to think, American Splendor is very cool - flicks in and out of movie and semi-documentary style.

Death Machine, right. I still can\'t get over the fact that they stole my Roborex for that movie and when I got it back it was nothing but a sorry melted heap of metal. :(

Good films are still: El Dia de la Bestia(funny horror section) and the Wayne\'s World classics, Earth Girls are Easy and Young Frankenstein from the comedy department.

Wallace was hung at the gallows for a short time and then taken down, allowed to recuperate for a few short minutes and was drawn while the blood-thirsty crowd watched.

To be drawn is to have one\'s intestines ripped from the body and burned, a hideously painful act that extends the torture because the victims do not die immediately. Afterwards, Wallace was quartered, an act of cruelty which consists of having all one\'s limbs and head cut off.

Following the public execution, Wallace\'s head was stuck onto a pole which was placed in a prominent location on London Bridge, thus giving it the greatest exposure possible. A similar fate met his arms and legs: his right arm was displayed on Newcastle bridge, his left arm went to Berwick, his right leg to Perth and his left leg to Aberdeen. Legend has it that Wallace\'s left leg ended up in the wall at St. Machars Cathedral.

Well, it was the best bit of the film as far as I was concerned;)

Nowadays he would just get community service...:flip:

Yeah, I knew he died for his cause Finn, but I had no idead how grotesquely.. but we get this from the people that brought us red hot wife swappin\' choppin\' Henry VIII..

Lola Rennt was a great movie, I need to get it on DvD one of these days.. I think everyone should have at least one foreign film, and Brotherhood of the Wolf is a good start. I still watch that without subtitles because 1) I\'m painting and 2) I remember the scenes.

One good (weird) movie I sawed was Little Otik (Otosanik) it was a Czech movie which was basically a big bad wolfish like fairy tale. Only thing is, that movie will MESS. YOU. UP!! Once you see it, that will be enough. You get the plot and story, but the visuals will keep you up at night wondering.

My college\'s movie theater had this film festival and for a class I had to go see two.. I REALLY wanted to see the native Inuit movie, but it was at the wrong time.. Oh, well...

I reccomend classic comedy movies like Marx Brothers, Abbot and Castello, Three Stooges, things like that. See if you can find the one with the Marx brothers and Carmen Miranda.. I have no idea of the plot but the mix of those should be volitale enough.. :p

And if you\'re anything like me and there\'s absolutely NOTHING to rent, for some reason there\'s always a Godzilla movie I haven\'t seen in the Horror section.. lol

Yeah, the Middle Ages managed to out-cruelty the Romans, and that was saying something. It\'s only relatively recently in history that people have NOT considered public torture and execution to be a form of entertainment.

Funny movies:
Fast Times at Ridgmont High (funny, boobies)
\"Samson\"/Santo films (rare, hilarious)
Cannibal: the Musical (cannibalism, singing)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (silly, underrated)
Bring it On (Eliza, Dushku)
Heathers (What\'s your DAMAGE, Heather?)

Action:
The Abyss Special Edition (just plain cool)
Predator (classic, Governorlicious)
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (Clint at his best of course)

Neither:
New Waterford Girl (Down East goodness)
Ararat (Armenian-Canadian goodness)
Suspiria (really weird Italian horror)
A Night on Earth (5 cabbies, 5 cities, 1 night)
Orgazmo (wacky, perverted)
Whale Rider (if I was 13 I would want to marry Keisha Castle Hughes)

Does anyone know if Jean Reno\'s \"Wasabi\" is any good? I\'ve heard not, alas.

I\'ll second the Four Rooms and Lola Rennt (make sure to turn up the volume when watching that second one)

Then one of my favourites: Festen. A swedish movie following the Dogma \'95 principles (no additional lighting or sound effects, filmed at unmodified location, so no hollywood hocus pocus)

Others good ones: Ghost World (american), The Virgin Suicides (american), Fucking Amal (swedish), Y tu mama tambien (mexican).
