Hello folks and struggling painters,
I really get p...sed, seeing stupid, overexposed, fuzzy pictures of lower tabletop quality (surely subjective) worked on the assembly line. On that toppic, it strikes me hard to stay objective, when it comes to voting.
Well there are several points of view here:-
1. These are photos of models and paintwork that people are proud of. And despite the fact that You or I may not like them, they are someones effort which they want to share and gain comments. Hopefully these comments are intended to be helpful, like the comments you provide.
2. Voting is subjective. It is your opinion and no one elses, but I understand the draining feeling that the 3208th Space Marine in a row creates.
3. As much as Painting models is a skill set so is taking Photographs. Not everyone has the abilities, knowledge to paint a 10 Scoring model. likewise not everyone has the ability or knowledge to produce a High quality Photo. While there are articles on Coolminiornot about getting the best out of a camera, not everyone has read them or has applied the techniques. Similarly not everyone has a high class Digital SLR and must work within the limitations of their camera, BUT (again) unless you have the knowledge or experience the limitations of a camera become a handicap. Learning to adapt to work these limitations into a positive result does take time and an interest. (I'm fortunate in that I've been a photographer for many years and understand what needs to be done. Having said that I still struggle to get a picture of my minis which I am satisfied with).
Please let me now, what do you think of anybody, who is exhausting putting new entries in one single session.
- Should there be a dayly maximum on pictures (qualitiy of any kind)?
- Should there be a higher dayly maximum for supporters (to whatever reason)?
Well as one of the people who approve images I feel kind of qualified to answer this question.
There is no upper limit on pictures, nor should there be. If someone has 200 images to load so be it, the caveat to this is that we tend to limit the multiple views of the same miniature to three in a row, where we can immediately identify them.
Personally I try to advise people who "Bulk load" lots of miniatures into getting into the habit of putting up smaller amounts over a few days, this helps them get a more balanced appreciation from the gallery audience. But if someone has placed a large number of auctions up, or a large number of links to an auction then the images are going up.
You must also take into account the fact that not everyone will have constant access to the internet. There are still people who's access is limited either through Parental Control, Shared Equipment, Work Limitations or via an Internet Cafe. Bulk uploading is for them the only means to share their work.
TIA,
Regards
