Loving the "aura", loving the colours, and loving the base. If this is your first in years I am hoping to see more, pls! ^^
This is not helpful (technically at least) I know, but I could not do it better xD I am trying to learn what I can from every WIP around here and that's a LOT of info.

I am planning my next project right now. I have a little painting to do with my daughters first. They had never seen me paint before and they are keen to get in on the fun.

You will never stop learning about painting, reading and practice is the best advice. Don't just limit yourself to miniature sites either, look any art books and sites you can get you hands on, especially to do with colour and light theory. A really great site if you are interested in historicals is http://www.planetfigure.com/, its a very active site with lots of good people and great advice.
