Days until:
http://www.7is7.com/otto/countdown.html?year=2007&month=8&date=11&hrs=9&min=0&sec=0&tz=local&
:cool::cool:

I\'ll post my current progress on my entrys for the LA gamesday (8/11/07 9:00 AM) Here.

Plan: I shall convert and sculpt til febuary and then I\'ll paint until gamesday. This will give me 3 months (ruffly) to convert and 6 to paint.

My first conversion is finished. What I\'ll do is convert a bunch of minis then choose the ones I like the best. I\'ll paint those for GD. The ones I don\'t like I\'ll probabley end up selling!

Any feedback?

The neck is too long. The head should be closer to the body.

I would loose the sculpted shoulder pad and put a premade one on.

Also he looks too unbalanced. He should lean more to the left other wise he looks like he\'s about to fall over.

Dont want to sound negative they are just my thoughts. Keep us posted.

OgreBane did, as usual, capture it pretty well. I really like where you\'re going with this and think that if you take his suggestions you\'ll have a top notch mini on your hands.

Hey angus, that\'s a nice mini you have there!

I like your creativity, using compnents from the two universes - it took me a while to figure out the body was Valten\'s!

The green stuff work looks good, however there seems to be a gap between the green stuff boot and the metal model. The back pack looks great! If I were you I\'d give him a knife strapped onto it to enhance the catachan feel even more. ;)

The shoulderpad, is it meant to be a...? Ummm.. I don\'t know what it is called, but they\'re on the Daemonhunters. Here
If so, I think your best bet would to roll flat some green stuff, leave it to set overnight, and then cut the shape you want out. This will give cleaner and sharper edges and maintain a smooth surface.

On his bionic foot, I would think about adding some spikes or grip, otherwise the flat metal would slip all over the place when he walks. ;)

As Ogrebane said, the model looks unbalanced. Just cut away a few millimetres of the rock, and the elastacity of the green stuff foot will allow you to bend it down so its flush with the rock. The bionic leg needs to be vertical as this is where all his weight is.

BTW, the powerclaw? blades are also bent, I would straighten them up before painting.

Sorry for the many little niggles but I really like this model and it needs to be done justice, plus which it is GD so everything has to be right.

Great model, looking forward to more conversions from you, they will be great if this is anything to go by!

Cheers,
Tom

Some nice ideas, but there are problems with proportion, Ogrebane mentioned the neck, I think the forearm holding the plasma gun is too long, and the hand on the same arm too big when compared to the leg/foot. I don\'t have any problems with the pose, seems ok to me.

***^^agreed^^ should be using a human hand for a catachan not a marine hand, also you need more to the bionic parts they are bland and dont really look effective right now

the pose he is in looks very awkward, looks like hes doing a stretch or something(hamstrings/groin or back maybe?)

and the claw looks way too big for him, its the size of his entire torso, and thats what kills it for me, even with an awesome paint job i dont think i could get past the uber sized claw hand

look at him from the rear shot and you will see what i mean...especially since hes somehow wielding a massive marine sized plasma with one hand(hold out a a bowling ball like that and you will soon see how difficult it is...and this is a weapon the size of his whole body...probably weighs 60-80lbs

even when going for fantasy and non realism you have to keep certain things in mind, simply because the human mind automatically relates it to reality and some people will frown

What I was going for is that the marines gaunlet is stronger than a normal hand. I also don\'t have any marine or catachan parts on my hands . I completely redid the left (his right) leg. It looks WAY better. I also removed the shoulder pad and relized that the neck looks to long because the right shoulder is ALOT shorter than the right. I don\'t know what to use for the shoulder pad. Don\'t try to get rid of that powerfist though. Of what I know of Catachans the LOVE those things.
Thanks,
Jake
