Hey, in the midst of the confusion over Thai economics, I got some pictures! I will comment on all of them.

The base. I have stained the grass. It looks ok in some places, but in other parts its all matted. I also trimmed the tall grass as I realized it was taller than the Ringwraith himself.

An example of mattyness in the grass.

I've bent the branches around a bit so that they no longer look like horns.

Done? I added a blueish wash to the sword. Should I seal this guy?

IMG_0587.jpg

The back. Definitely the better side in my opinion. Im realizing I didnt do such a good job prepping the front as the back.

And the true color. My lighting just isnt that good.

What do you think? Am I done?

WELL HEY! Schools out! I can paint again! Quick question; in terms of golden demon, is the base that this guy is on acceptable? Or is it too big to work with the rules?
Pics of new stuff coming soon i think.

Ok great. I was thinking it could be too big. I'd still like a second opinion though, anyone?

I'm currently working on a wood elf spell singer. I want it to be winter themed so I'm attempting to cast a glacier out of clear resin for her to stand on. In terms of colors, I'm thinking I might paint it similar to the ring wraith but with blue as a more dominant color.

Here is the mold I made for a glacier:

As you can see by the fact that theres water in it, its totally sealed. If I were to lubricate it somehow, could I pour clear resin in and be able to pull out the hardened resin without it sticking? or would the lubricant mix with the resin and just cause a mess.

Hi Necroghast, when you asked about a GD legal base, were you talking about the Ringwraith? I thought they came with 25mm round bases rather than 40mm squares? I don't have a War Of The Ring rulebook to see what's "game legal" though. Nor have I ever attended a GD :)

Yeah thats obviously not the base it came with. to quote Games Workshop

"When describing what bases you may use we have used the term,
“appropriately-sized gaming base” in some instances. The intention
here is to allow a little flexibility whilst keeping to the spirit of the
competition. So, if you want to mount your Terminator on a 40mm
square base for aesthetic purposes, you can still enter it in the
Warhammer 40,000 single model category. The same applies for
Warhammer models mounted on round bases. However, please note
the judges reserve the right to move models that are not on
appropriate bases into a category they deem more fitting."

So my thought is that the base might be too big.

They also say models that aren't able to be removed from scenic bases will be disqualified. So I guess the real question is, Is it a scenic base or an appropriatley sized gaming base?

wow lots of font size changes here.

I think the size is important still Skel, as is whether it's entered into the LotR Single or the Open category. Of your links, the Rhinox & Tech Priest are on standard base sizes, the Barrow Wight might be, under that undergrowth but doesn't look removable & the Dwarf is too big. Without knowing what categories they were entered into I don't think they provide sufficient clues?

Best I can offer Necroghast is this thread on the PB Forum with lots of hints/tips/answers http://www.platoonbritannica.org.uk/showthread.php?t=852

If you don't get any more feedback I'd suggest posting in a new thread specifically to ask the question as it might receive more eyeballs from people who've entered before themselves.

Cheers, B.
