Looks good Necroghast, the red has really helped, with the orange in the base I'm getting a strong sense of autumnul sunset over his shoulders as the setting :) Nice progress :good: Cheers, B.

i suggest you give the grass a dark stain, so it doesnt stand out so much and draw attention from your very neutral necroghast.

Think he was referring to the mini as a 'Necroghast', must admit I was wondering why you were referring to a Ring Wraith as Necroghast till I noticed it was your name, lol

How do I go about staining the grass?
First you take your joi..............Oh, my bad. Wrong grass.

OK Try watering down something like Snakebite Leather and stiple it into the grass.
Or use a thin wash of Dark Angels green and make sure it goes down to the root level of the grass.

lol, sory 'bout that, i started pretty early with the salty dogs :drink: yesterday, and a necroghst is kinda similar to a ring wraith, right?:beerwave: anyhow, you get the idea.

i would do like DR suggested, but id use watered down scaly green or/and scorched brown instead, to make it look a bit more cold and 'dead' and fit the wraith better. also, you can drybrush the grass a bit white.

Nice work so far, the black is very good from what I see any chance of larger pic? I don't like the 2nd base. The leaves look very flat and unrealistic. This is not your fault as tey are the Gw ones?

The leaves are brass leaves that I found in a drawer in my grandfathers basement. Probably at least 30 years old.

hmm i got to agree with skellets on the branches beeing a bit like elk antlers..might be the point of view too. I dont mind the leaves tho, gives a good feel to the base. the mini is painted real good! looking forward to see more of this.

I've stained it and in some parts it worked but in other parts it got all chunky and matted. I'll post some pics tommorow...maybe.

Also, is my NMM right? (still not done but in the works)

Hi Necroghast, the nmm on the sword looks fine to me. While it could be painted more sharply with smoother blends, blah, blah, blah, I don't want it to become too sterile. At the moment it works really nicely for me with the painterly feel of the whole mini, lots of confident brushwork on display that doesn't need to be overworked. Or at least I think you risk losing a lot of the character you've imbued him with. Keep it up :) cheers, B.

the NMM sword look good, but it blend in the cloth i think. id go for some glaces of (scaly) green or turquoise. not too much though, as it still should look old and weatherbeaten.
