Er...guess I worded that kinda funny. The winsor is on the right. It's the longer on. Pointier, too. The Reaper is on the left and it's overall stubbier.
My winsor is a Watercolour. Most people prefer this over the miniature one because it has more body and so it holds more paint. I'd say the winsor is about ten times better than the Reaper, even tho they are both Kolinsky Sable brushes. The winsor just has such a wonderful spring to it, and it holds it's point even when abused. A Reaper sable has about a months lifetime for me. I estimate a winsor will have about 6 months to a year for me. Most people will get more than that out of it, but as I said I treat my brushes roughly.
My winsor may look a little different, I can't remember exactly but I feel like the time I dropped it on the carpet and when I picked it up it was all ratty looking, I may have lost some of it's body. Or maybe it's just in my head. I DO know this: it still paints like the day I bought it, maybe better.
No no worries with triple checking buddy. When it comes to sable, it's best to know what you're getting yourself into. So I say this to you: Order a W&N Series 7 watercolour size 1 and you will see the single biggest improvement that tools can bring to your painting. That's a BloodFather Blood Promise.
I am am about to order something called a Kolinsky Tajmyr. Scale75 sells them. Kolinsky Sable comes from a Weasel that lives in Siberia. However, apparently the males make for the best brushes, and a particular region/town in Siberia is known as Tajmyr, where they farm make weasels exclusively for Tajmyr brushes. Er...at least that's how it is marketed. I'll try them out and get back to you, as I haven't found a soul who have used them despite starting a thread about it.
