Need some spray nozzle help

I went out to spray matte varnish (Anti-shine from Army Painter) on my minis, it worked fine for a few sprays but then became clogged all of a sudden. It wouldnt spray properly and sometimes when I depress the nozzle it kept stuck in depressed position by itself and was spitting (not spraying) out the matte varnish.

I then tried to clean it, first in hot water and then terpentine - nothing helped.
So I have 2 other army painter cans, both grey primers so I took a new nozzle from one of those to use on the anti-shine can. Worked fine for a few sprays but then it just got clogged again, and this was a nozzle that hadnt been used before...

Now im going to get a needle and try and fix it but im wondering if there could be something wrong with the anti-shine can that makes it clog nozzles like crazy. Then can is maybe a year old but not more, I always turn it upside down and spray when im done using it so as to clean the nozzle.

Shake,shake,shake...every few minutes to keep the can fluid..Ambient temp outside can also be a factor..Try acetone or one of the stronger modelling cleaners for airbrushes..
For a can thats been sitting in warm then cool for a year it really does need a real good shaking.

And don't forget to turn the can upside down and spray only "gas" when you have finished or if you need to stop spraying for a while, this will help with the "clogging" issue.

you can always buy some extra nozzles. they only cost pennies and they are always handy. Truth is, the nozzles will always get slightly damaged when spraying and they gradually become unusable (either clog or the spraying becomes spitting). just toss it away and get a fresh one. not worth caring for them. recommended nozzles for spraying minis are the soft caps from this link:

How is the combability issues? Do all the flat one (without the long stick going down in the can) work with army painter cans? Which of the width should I go for, didnt really measure the army painters nozzle spray width :p

To the other reply I should say that I do shake the cans for a few minutes before starting and shake it between spraying one figure and the next - it might not have been enough for the anti-shine though.

the only thing I believe is an issue is the male/female can. The caps I have recommended are for the female cans. I am not aware of the type of can the army painter is but this image of a female can will help you:

As Maenas said you need to clear the nozzle by holding the can upside down and spray it till it's clear of varnish , if you don't the whole tube in the nozzle and the can will get dried paint in it . You can clean them out with paint thinners but don't leave the nozzle in otherwise it will melt.
