Clearly, if you move even the slightest amount in any direction the illusion will be ruined. In fact, even standing at just the right angle it might not work because your eyes will detect the depth difference in person.
So, if you\'re just doing it to create a photograph, you could get exactly the same effect by painting the figure and background solidly, photographing the background and then putting the figure in place and double exposing the same frame.
I suppose it is interesting as a matter of personal challenge, but not for producing a 3-D object.
I think it would be more interesting to create an image that is only recognizable from a specific angle but doesn\'t look out of place from other angles, like the arrangement of rocks in the movie Labarynth that from one angle form a portrait of David Bowie.
***the point is it looks awesome, it looks like a stealth suit in stealth mode, which is awesome
stealth in movies DOES bend light and look awkward if you look close enough, and i think it would be almost possible to do this, as all you need to do is paint the sides different to blend in with the background on all 4 sides of him
ex. rear of marine would have bush thats in front of him, left side would have say a tree, right side would have dirt and air, front would have the cliff behind him
of course it would look awkward outside of a display, or turned the wrong way, but thats the point of a display, its for display
i suggested something like this for a games day entry, except on a single mini, eldar ranger with chameleoline cloak...would look awesome if done right
