So here is my latest. It\'s a mini for the ebay comp again. Theme is water.

I asked the shop keeper at my local train store what water effects I should use and he sold me this melting stuff. I melted it and poured it in and it looks just like pee. So this is the best picture I have of it. vote here If you want to. <sigh> I ran out of time. I should have done a test on the water. Oh well. I can re-paint it if I get the hankering to do it I suppose. :no:

Painting is a bit patchy but theme wise it will score highly from me. Nice job Liz.

Lesson. Always try something on a scrap bit first.

Wow, that is a shame - kinda looks like a the nice glass of whisky you\'ve probably reached for after doing that.

I really like the scene and the whole composition works really well for underwater even without the actual water.

I had exactly the same problem except not only did it look like urine it also melted the bases!!!! I have now got a unit of dryads who were supposed to be dancing across a light autumn stream but instead look like they\'re avoiding a corrupting stream of yellow pee!!!

I recommend, and i hate to say it, the GW stuff it\'s easy to use and works everytime. I\'m sure you can get it cheaper somewhere else though.

The GW stuff is supposed to be rather terrible compared to Woodland Scenics water effects, and the GW stuff is useless for doing water features with any depth. You\'re probably looking at one of several types of resin for that.

If I\'d known I\'d really have to use these pics I would have taken one after I fixed her hands and the pearl and dullcoated the whole thing. Also straightened up the seaweed a bit as well. It\'s got kinks in it. Not expecting too high marks on it but I did work on her so she goes in the gallery anyway. I hope the next comp is an easy one.

I would take the hole thing back to the shopkeeper and beat him round the head with it till he cried like a little kid and at least give me my money back for selling pee water.

What a shame it was looking so nice too.

My son claimed it for himself saying something about it being cool paper weight and isn\'t Mom clever for learning how to use piss in a such creative fashion (he is my son after all).

I was planning on gluing a note to it that said, \"Always test first\" and putting it up where I could see it every day.

I kind of like the mace idea, though.

Sorry - I\'ve spent way to much time on the bottom of lakes that were that color due to suspended matter - mostly algae lol


You could always redo it using the clear water effects that they make, rather than the melting ones.

the plastic beads always come out yellow if used in any real thickness. I learned that back when I did scenery pieces.

Ugh, sorry your minis are swimming in a toxic waste dump.

I\'d recommend going to the floral section of a craft store and asking for \"fake\" water there. I found some stuff called \"Everlasting Elegance\" which is basically a 2 part mixture. In the box you get two bottles of one syrupy liquid and one more watery. You mix them at a 2:1 ration and let sit. It\'s kinda slow drying so it\'s only good for still water unless you add something like Woodland Scenics water effects on top of it after it\'s mostly dry. But best about it is that it\'s clear! It\'s meant to resemble water in a vase of silk flowers so it definately cannot look like pee after drying.

Maybe check there next time Liz. And remember... TEST FIRST!
