Whilst looking around a newsagents in Brussels, Peter and I stumbled across a painting bible :D

Ravage have produced a book which spotlights the top French painters: Cyril, Thomas Barse, Jeremie Bonamant, Allan Carasco and many, many others.

It looks like its the first in a series they will be producing - issue 1 has only just come out. You can find details here Ravage

Its an 80 page publication with fantastic photos of the painters models, also giving a little profile of each painter. It\'s in French, but who cares!!

If you can your hands on a copy I can highly recommend it :D

I hear ya\'. I would love to pick this up, but I would feel like I only got 1/2 of what I\'m paying for.

You hear that, Frenchkid? Buy it, translate the entire thing, then post the translation here so we can all enjoy it. :D;)

While your at it, do one in Deutch, Portugese, Italian, Russian, Spanish, etc...

lol:bouncy::flip:

Hi,

I actually pointed out this book here:

I agree with Tooshy, it\'s well worth the money. Even if you can\'t read the language. Anyway, consider it a motivation to learn French. They have a lot of good magazines on miniatures and you\'ll be able to participate in the Creafigs forum (most if not all of the painters from that book are there).

Bye, Ming-Hua

One cup of tea nearly spilled, as I read that without the \"R\" in brushes...

That\'ll teach me to pay more attention.:eek:

Nice book. I wonder if the French will ever decide to publish an English edition for the linguistically challenged...............ie The Brits.lol

I\'ve been fluent in French in the past and my girlfriend is a first-language Welsh speaker. She speaks English as well and Spanish to an extent. My mate is fully fluent in French too...a small cross-section of the WELSH here Mikey lol Not half as monoglot as you\'d like to think, so stop tarring us with that b(r)ush!

I can also recommend it, and that you don\'t know french isn\'t really a problem, since the focus of this mag is on the pictures.

£13 WITH POSTAGE (about 8Euros...)!!!!

And try looking under \'Grande Bretagne\'!! They\'re French you know.... :D

I got it today, and it is excellent. Brimming with totally inspirational stuff - by far and away the best showcase of minis I\'ve bought.

Shame I can\'t read French, because I\'m sure there\'s some really useful info in there too.

Thoroughly recommended!

;)

Most of the texts explain more what mood the artist was in to do a particular scene than just how he did a painting technique. But it is interesting to get ideas on composition.

Plus, some of the artists never post on the net. They were discovered by local competitions (the \"Opens\" that are organized all across France).

If you want a particular text translated Scott, just ask, but please refrain from saying all of it ;).
