New RPG from GW

Hello, after all the talk about glossy new books, I thought it best to talk about something REALLY positive...the release of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay II! At last, another reason to splash the cash lol. I was a keen player/nerd/roleplayer back in the day, and I\'m coming out of retirement for this one.

Anyone got any decent links about it yet?

Ooh, I\'m excited lol.

No link I\'m afraid but I too am eagerly awaiting the release of this. I was an avid player of WHFRP ands still have my original book but it is tired and now I need a new one oh what luck they are about to rerelease it.lol

Well the bad news is that GW took the license back from the original publishers (Hogshead?) and have re-written it themselves.

So are we going to have a poll on how many simple and stupid errors are in there?
(Historically if you look at \"Warhammer Quest\" it was a game designed to draw people from the RPG into WFB and not the other way around.)

EeeeByGum. I seem to be on a bit of a GW bash mode at the moment! :D

@tidoc222 I still have mine in almost pristine condition. (read once) Wanna do a trade?

And your point is...?

Or was that just a random tit bit of knowledge that needed to be shared with the group?

lol

WHFRP 2 2 2 2 2 2 2

My understanding is that it\'s an update of the old format as there are a lot of groups of players of the original. I had a press report on it on a particular site but I can\'t find the buggering thing...I\'ll look again and see what\'s what. THE JOY! It was a surprisingly good roleplay and I liked the way it led into WFB with characters crossing over (if you were that way inclined :)).

That was probably our favorite RPG back in high school... (12 years ago now...) I remember playing it more recently and I was a bit disappointed with the skill system, something that I used to think was excellent.

I hope it\'s a complete rewrite. The biggest strength of the game was the atmosphere, but the rules are a bit clunky these days.

Used to be a D&D geek myself but I remember to sitting down to a game of it once - seemed interesting.

I imagine it had a lot of fluff to draw upon due to books and the like and hey, you\'ve got miniatures to line right up if you want. Sounds interesting. Despite not playing games any more (time - money - wife and kids ...) I still have the occasional interest in them.

Is there a link for this or a sneak preview?

WFRP was one of my favorite fantasy RPG\'s, mostly because of the depth and the rather gritty nature of the system iteslf. It is (and has been for a while) really overdue for an update. But yeah...it used to be put out by Hogshead Publishing. In fact, I was just in two short-lived campaigns that ended a month or so ago because the GM\'s just didn\'t have the time. :(

I still think that \"The Enemy Within\" was an excellent adventure. I\'m not usually a big fan of pre-published adventures, but from what I saw (through another campaign) and heard from a friend who does freelance writing, a lot of folks still consider it one of the best ones ever.

\"The dwarfs are thrifty and can afford to pay such taxes!\" That line became a running joke for hypnotism for years to come...

Ah such sweet memories...

Warhammer Fantasy roleplay was my first experience of such a thing, which in turn got me into my current lead addiction ;)

\"Shadows over Bogenhoffen\" and \"Something Rotten in Kislev\" bring back such fond memories...... of me getting my butt kicked by something or another. I also ended up with purple hands at one point.... ??? I know, I\'m as confused as you are now

I only moved the bag which contained all my scenarios and stats book the other day when I was doing some sorting out. I must dig it out again :D

In one article I read Black Industries/GW moved away from the idea of producing minis for the new game which is a little bit annoying, but Mordheim should cover a lot of PC/NPC stuff. It\'s going to be cool! *rubs hands in delight*

Anja, you CAN\'T die more than once can you? Have you got some fate point system going on there? Or have you got crazy magic? lol
