This piece has been a really mystery to me.
First let me state, I am not griping or whining even though it may sound like I am.
It's sitting at 6.9 at the present moment. As I stated before this piece has been a real mystery. I think it is one of my best sculpting works and for look of realism. It has been entered into 2 Golden Demons and made first cut.
Please let me state again,...I AM NOT WHINING. The first time I brought it to a GD and took it out of the showcase, it got swamped with about 20 people wanting to take pictures and asking how I did it. The same reaction happen in the historical contests, people either avoid looking at it or really into it. I had a talk with two of the judges at a GD and both heaped praise on it.
At work my boss and friends has the same reaction, they think the piece is well done but it's the subject matter that scares people.
It reminds me of one of my very first scratch built figures, an 6 inch tall Terminator. I was at a Hobby Show and it was in display with tanks, cars and aircraft. I noticed 2 elderly ladies looking at a stamp vender's display about 20 feet away. I noticed one of the ladies looked over and stated starring at the model table. Both walk over and started looking at the Terminator. After about a minute, one looks at the other and says....I don't like it... and walked away.I was kind of hurt but after a while I thought to myself. Wait, this piece pulled 2 ladies from 20 feet away to look at it. Even thought the table was full of great looking and well built models It did it's job.
Is this the same situation? Is it too over the top or are my eyes clouded?
Thanks for looking and any comment welcomed.
