Hello All..

Well, I managed to get a few more done and I'm looking for some feedback.

First up is my human monk from Dark Sword - http://www.coolminiornot.com/pics/pics16/img52ce0ba6f0fd1.jpg
I tried Bailey's white techniques for his Gi ( I think that's what it's called ) The base is my first attempt at realistic water effects, not sure if that's what is causing the lower scores. Let me know what you all think - good or bad.

Second is my redo of Borka.. http://www.coolminiornot.com/348683
With him, I think I got the blue skin shadows and highlights right, but added some reddish color to his face/lips/knuckles. Was this a mistake? He is scoring towards the higher tabletop side of the scale currently and I'm pretty happy with that since he's a tabletop piece. I tried the same white technique as the monk on the fur and tried out the NMM gold again on the cod piece and mace.

As I said, any feedback is welcomed. Thanks!

I think the monk just needs a bit more contrast on the skin, hair and blue. The white is very nice and has subtle blends, good job! A 6-6.5 there from me.

Borka is great, I like the palette and the skin is really nice with the purple/pink tones. The leather and metals are nice too. The white fur just needs some definition and maybe some tonal variations as it looks too even and "pure" compared to the rest. Nice work on his base too. 7 for him in my books.

Cheers!

Looks pretty good! The shadows are richer than on the Monk. I do think you are still having trouble placing your shadows. I like the front but in the back some of the darker shadows in the center of the upper back and the 2 larger shadows on the tails of the cloak look a little too big. Also Under his right arm I would add in a big dark shadow. - Have you tried the zenithal priming thing? If nothing else it will give you a map of how your shadows would fall naturally. Also, what is going on with the mini's face? Is that smoke coming out of a cigar? The photo is small enough that I can't tell what it is.

I appreciate it Demi.. Before I started the mini, I primed it black and took pics of it in a dark room with only 1 light source above, then used that for a reference. I see what you are talking about the right arm. I will have to check my reference pics again. Yeah, I used a piece of a q-tip to make some smoke. It looks like to me that his right eye was closed as he is swinging back with the shovel, so I figured that the smoke would add more of an effect then just a plain closed eye.
