2 things about brushes
Dont dip the brush up to the metal part- paint will dry there and wreck the brush

Keep the cover of the brush for protection.

These things probably seem obvious to most of us here but I just thought I\'d mention them as I didnt know it when I first started.

I don\'t have the luxury of different shades of colors that Reaper and Valjero offer..... Wish I did so i could play with that more. Even when extremely watered down, these paints do NOT want to blend properly. Could be my technique, but it also is probably the crappy paint.

Like Backstabetth said, black and white are really hard to work with. I use dark-grays and blues rather than pure black and cream or light-gray instead of white, they will still look like black and white so long as they are the darkest/lightest colors on the mini.

Wet-washing.. do you mean washes for shading or wet-blending? I suck at wet-blending. :p

Lol I suck at both. The paints I\'m using dry VERY matte finish and they don\'t blend well. I\'m looking into getting some colors of Reaper Master Series paints to practice blending with.

Paints: There are a few artists around here that can make the apple barrel paints work, but I\'ve only found them good for terrain work. By the time you get the thick paste diluted enough to paint, you\'ve lost all the binder (they won\'t stick).

Get some GW, Reaper, Vellajo, P3 (or other water-based acrylic miniature paints) (not a full set yet, just a few to try) and see if you don\'t get better results. You\'ll still need to thin them, but you won\'t have to water them down so bad that nothing is left.

Umm, whilst I may be in the mids as far as ranking, I think I do pretty well for using the \"thick as paste\" especially when you consider how much thinning has to go on to get em to work over here -

Key with using them is thinning, just like the more expensive ones.
