Darth Maul he was fantastic all 10 minutes he was on screen. Bit like Boba Fett in being massively underused in the films.

I read General Grievous is half alien and half droid. As for the Death Star maybe it was buy one get one free:p

general greivus was indeed half alien and half android. i dont know if any of you watched the cartoon network clone wars cartoons but they explaine why he is hunched over and coughs so much. Mace Windu force crushed the piss outta his abdomen. the cartoons were actually pretty good.

If one were to apply real-world scientific laws, then the DeathStar answer is simple - Moore\'s Law is usually only applied to computers and therefore binary-based (digital) technologies. However, applied on a broader scale, all technologies increases exponentially. As time passes, new innovations come quicker. When Nasa started the Space Shuttle program they planned (I think) 12 shuttles, and by the time they completed the last one the first was already obsolete (it had ANALOG gauges!). So, halfway through the project the Emperor started a second one knowing the first was not going to be state-of-the-art. They also stole Replicator technology from StarFleet, enabling them to fabricate parts more quickly, so the second was completed soon after the first. :D

As far as the 21 years it took, the Rebels actually stole the plans soon after they were made. The problem was they were traveling in one of those old Federation shuttles that was only equipped with Impulse power. Without Warp Drives, it took them that long to reach Leia (and man, were they hungry!). lol

See, you only need to apply a little nerdness to explain away it\'s deficiencies. ;)

@Spacemunkie - You\'re new avatar is Okay, but I think this one might be more appropriate -

I dunno about that avatar, Markus, Spacemunkie always struck me as a happy sort.:);)

A massive building project like a Death Star would crave creating an emormous infrastructure... once that infrastructure is in place, production of further Death Stars would roll along at a merry pace.

After hating Episodes I and II I went into this movie with a gret deal of trepidition. In the end, I really enjoyed it. You can read my thoughts on it in my in-depth review on The ZaphBlog

Yep, the proto-type always takes longer.

I was looking for Blip from Space Ghost, he was a happy monkey, but with that new SG,CtC show I get too many hits on the ol\' search engine. Took me long enough just to find this lil\' bugger.

@ZaPhOd - I had Zaphblog once... the doctor gave me some medicine for it. lol

Just kidding, It looks like a well put together page, great job! - Mark

I thought this was a good bridge film, couldn\'t have been an easy task to write and slight inaccuracies aside I think Lucas did a fine job both writing and directing. I still think I or II is probably the best of the lot overall but each has its flaws so it\'s hard to choose between them.

Having an obvious younger version of Tarkin on the bridge at the end was a nice touch I thought (Scorpius from Farscape incidentally), although they overdid the cheekbones quite a bit. I did think the death star at such a state of construction this early isn\'t internally logical, seeing a plan of it on a screen or holo would have better IMO. As far as opinions on III go, sometimes I swear movie critics take the title of their job to heart and forget what they\'re supposed to be doing. \"If only this had gotten out of the starting gate a little quicker, it would be an unqualified success.\" What film did Matt Brunson see?! The only way it could have gotten off to a quicker start is if they cut off the intro! Many of the criticisms of I and II centre on the more childish elements (Jar Jar especially and between 3PO and R2 in this one) but I cringed at the Ewoks and the twee ending in ROTJ and be honest, I wasn\'t the only one was I?! As far as accusations of poor acting go, one should review the ancillary characters in IV, V and VI, all of which have some performances that barely cut the mustard in amateur dramatics.

Lots of plugs for Episode V around lately, which I\'m surprised at. As one of the reviews on RottenTomatoes mentions, \"the fabled excellence of The Empire Strikes Back.\" And that\'s what it is IMO, fabled. I had the chance so I watched it again on DVD yesterday and even polished up it\'s not as good a film as one might remember it being. Sure it has some of those classic moments but overall it achieves classic status only in the recollection - the tauntauns are all a bit jerky, the AT-ATs are clunky (and clearly models when downed and blown up), some of the interplay between Han and Leia is a bit forced and let\'s not forget the really bad matting of the snowspeeders. And not quite as good as one recalls, Yoda even is!

In case you haven\'t heard Lucas has said he\'s not intending to make the final trilogy as he has other projects he wants to do before it\'s too late. But the good news is there\'s a live-action series on the way! :flip:

Yeah, but back in the day he also said he\'d never make these first three movies... so i\'ll be holding my breathe and waiting for them;)

Hey... anybody know why when Obi-Wan died, he faded away... when Yoda died, he faded away, but when all the younglings and even the adults who were leading the clone army died their bodies all stayed there? Is it a jedi master thing? Just wondering what\'s up with that... i\'m sure there\'s some back story there that i just don\'t know, but i\'m curious.

The fading away is something Yoda learned from Qui-Gon after Qui-Gon came back from the nether regions of the force. When Yoda gives Obi-Wan training to do while on Tattooine, it is referencing the whole fading away thing. . At least thats what Yoda tells Obi-Wan on the ship at the end of the movie.

Yoda: Learn this new \'fading away\' technique we must.
Obi-Wan: Why, Master Yoda?
Yoda: Leaving behind smelly carcass we do not want.
Obi-Wan: Good thinking... and the bad guys won\'t be able to go through our wallets!

lol:bouncy::flip:

Using that same logic , \"The Wizard of OZ\" is not a classic because it is good, only because we remember it so. It too suffers from dated special effects and terrible acting, yet still passes the test of each generations approval.

As Yoda says \"Trust reviewers of movies I do not.\"

When reviewers look at these types of movies, do they forgot the sheer entertainment value?

I think part of the reason the latest batch of Star Wars movies \'suffered\' so (apart from the weak scripts), was that audiences are a bit spoiled. Lucas and his crew revolutionized many things, from sound, to effects, to defining how a summer movie could be huge. There were not too many \'summer blockbuster\' movies before Star Wars, nor were there many sequels.

Except if you recall, the clothes stayed there. Remember DV kicking Obi-Wan\'s robe, as if he would find the guy in it, just tiny?

I was going to say it had to do with this:
dying in front of luke
But then I remembered that Darth Vader\'s body didn\'t fade away - or did it? We only see the suit burning and we know most of his body is artificial at that point anyway. Maybe his flesh faded away.

Yeah exactly. I still can\'t put entertainment value on the first two prequels because I felt they insulted my intelligence more than entertained. This one however... Very entertaining. Which is why I gave it a 4.5 out of 5 myself :D

You\'re right! But that would mean all the dead jedi masters are off in \'heaven\' Nakit! If that is the case, then i think I found a NEW continuity problem. If they don\'t keep their clothes when they fade-away, how come they aren\'t Nakit in spirit form at the end of RotJ? ???

(Not that I want to see Yoda Nakit... that would be almost as bad as seeing Rev...) lol

Well, I think they just appear the way Luke expected them to: Ben looked like he did when Luke met him, Yoda too. Anakin looked like a kindly older man, the way Luke would have wanted a father to look, wearing jedi robes just like Ben\'s.

This just supports the whole Luke is Special line of thinking.

But wouldn\'t it have been cool if Anakin had kept his \"clothes\" and there\'d been a ghost-body Darth Vader waving and putting his arm around Ben?

not anymore....

In the Return of the Jedi on DVD I recently bought, Anakin\'s \'ghost\' is now replaced by a happy looking Hayden Christensen....

Now that is really bizarre.
The least they could have done was artificially age him 20 years.

It\'s super bizarre since the version they showed on TV just a couple of weeks ago still had the old guy.
