Don\'t count on a season or an agreement
I was talking about the NHL with my friends at work on friday and we were wondering about this...
One of the sticking points is a salary cap per team. The players have proposed a cap of 55 million while the owners were looking at 40 million. We did the math and none of use could come up with any way they could afford either cap. Where do the players and owners think this money is coming from? Not TV, there is no contact to carry games there? The fans? I don\'t know about anywhere else but I just don\'t see any fans that actually care about losting this season? I live an hour from Buffalo where the Sabres play and you couldn\'t give away tickets BEFORE the lockout, so where does anyone think the fans will come from AFTER all this nonsence ends? I don\'t know about anywhere else, but 40 million dollars ( that\'s the low figure ) divided by the number of fans that will be in the stands after this ends comes up to about $10,000.00 per fan. Check my math! Baseball attendance suffered for several years after their last strike and cancelled World Series, and people actually cared about that sport. All I am saying is that someone should rent a funeral home, since it looks like hockey is on its way to that great sports arena in the sky.
