I am using GW paint, I was also under the impression that the white had to be a sharp conrast. When you say blending white would that be by building up the white by pushing the paint to the edge up to pure white, or the way you do gems a more local blend?
Also how on earth do you get a picture on the post?!

When you do a new post, click on the picture of the mountain with little sun. It will ask you for the link to the pic you want to insert.

Alternately you can click on the picture of the globe with the chain and it will be a standard link.

I would say a more gradual blend going up to pure white. (though I am by no means an nmm expert- I\'d wait for more experienced painters to reply)

Did you try to blend the white? Because from my experience GW skull white is a pretty easy paint to blend for some reason.

Thanks for the advice on linking pictures, i\'ll try that out.

No, i didn\'t try to blend the white, i\'ve normally only painted for the table top, but i liked the look of this mini for some reason i thought i\'d try just about everything i\'ve not done before! i will give this a go and put up the result asap.

Looking better.
Remember to consider where the light is going to hit it, thats where you want to put your highlights. For example, you could put some on the top of the shoulder pad. Reference pictures are good too, I got this looking up \"gold armor\" on google images.

I think it shows where you might want to put some highlights.

Another thought, (sorry for double post)
Post your pictures here on the forum instead of linking to WIP shots in the gallery. Some people find it annoying to see WIPs in the gallery as its supposed to be for finished work. :D

Posting on the gallery has been the only way i could figure out to put in a picture, the attachment thingy doesn\'t seam to work for me. Many thanks for you help, i feel this mini has come on leaps and bounds because of it.

No, i didn\'t know about Photobucket, i will get an account going soon. so the attachment thingy goes on the web, or do i still use the world link button or the insert photo button?

re NMM - you need more contrast between the lightest parts of the armour and the darkest. Personnally the darkest I go with the shading is Scorched Earth. My colours light to dark are :-
Scorched Earth, Bestial Brown, Snakebite Leather, Bubonic Brown, Sunburst Yellow and then bleached bone for the top highlight and edging.
I use skull white to pick out points on the model that I want to really emphasise. I find that if you highlight everything with white it loses the shiny feel and just doesn\'t look right.
If you want examples of where to place highlights for NMM you can check out pics like Necroghast posted or look at examples of what the top 50 artists have done. Or look in the Articles section, there are a number of them on how to do NMM.

On the subject of posting WIP pics you can get a CMoN blog account ( free) which allows you to upload pics which you can then link to in the forums to show your pic in the posting.
