I wanted to start small and get a .22 like a 22/45 Ruger MKIII or a Browning Buckmark...

The ammo for 22s is dirt cheap and during that time I could save up for a 9mm.. Maybe a CZ or a Glock.

Went to my first gun a about a week and and boy do they have alot of stuff. I mean they must have been selling as many NRA bumper stickers, as they were selling guns.

Theres another show coming up in August that I will attend and have a wad of cash ready for disposal.

The .45 long-slide with laser sighting.
The Uzi nine-millimetre.

Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range.

Any of these is ideal for home defense :D

Thank god I live in the UK. And before I get slated, I probably handle more guns, and in fact bigger ones every day at work.

They are not clever, they are not toys.

And the 2nd is the reason there is is so much gun crime in the USA.

I\'m not a great fan of 9mm for what you want it for but that aside the Glocks are fine guns, comfortable to shoot and very safe (even with one up the spout). The CZs are good guns too, at a good price, if you want to go the all-metal route.

Incidentally, I presume/hope your girlfriend is going to get some shooting lessons?

And yet steeply on the rise in inner-city areas in the UK, despite practically zero legal avenues for ownership. Something an armed populace would combat quite effectively thank you very much :D

This was finally proved not to be merely a pet theory of the NRA\'s with recent changes in some states\' concealed-carry laws, and the resulting changes in certain crime stats :cool:

And no gun is bad...Guns are inanimate objects.
Saying a Gun is bad, evil or good is a silly as saying your toaster is happy.

People on the other hand...

please note that I did not say that gun where good/bad/evil/blessed/wateverthefuckyouwantmetosay.

I said that I would refrain myyself from writting an essay on why not having guns is good. Period, nothing more, you want to discuss it,fine with me, I won\'t, but if you\'re going to use what I said as a starting point don\'t distort it.

Well, let\'s just say if I had a choice between getting rid of all the guns, and getting rid of all the people, I\'d guarantee I\'d be safer without the people.

But that\'s not really an option is it?
Without guns, we\'d just kill each other in more imaginative ways. We did it for thousands of years before the gun was even invented.
Like the guy who got killed with an axe in broad daylight in London was it?

I\'m seeing guys from England, and from France getting upset about our laws.
Why?
Do you think we give a crap about how you live your lives, do we have heated discussions over your rights, your constitutions?

You don\'t hear me bitching about your screwed up laws or the things that you guys consider your rights, why should I? I don\'t live there, I am not a citizen, I have no say so in the matter, it does not affect me.

Our gun control laws do not affect you.

i am sorry but our laws do affect different countries, just as much as their laws affect us. it is much like how our world works. every thing on this planet has ramifications that eventually reach back to us. so as each passing day goes on, more things affect everyone.

to take your stance on this lets look at what happens if the u.s. lessens their laws on guns and all goes well here, but then some guys in russia buy some guns from here cause they are cheaper and the laws here as much less drastic. they go back to russia with said guns and let into a crowd of people at a mall.

each thing we do affects someone else, no matter what you say. the world gets smaller every day as techonology brings us closer together no matter how much some may fight it. so when you say others have no right questioning our laws i just dont see the logic in that. bashing america however is a whole different discussion, but questioning is fine. bashing for the sake of bashing does nothing for anyone but propagate hate and ignorance.

just something to consider.

So I\'ll go about it again, please stop taking what I have said to distort it. Nowhere did I say that I was upset about your laws. I lived and was welcomed in the states, will there I abided by the law and got to understand the reason for most of them. I have defended them on several occasion.
I can live with people disagreeing with me, not liking me. But I can\'t stand people who take what you say and distort it. Since you seem unable to do this, just forget that I posted and don\'t ever make reference to what I said.

And quit franckly, this forum dosn\'t need a pro/anti gun argumetn again, been there done that and there are plenty of forums dedicated to that subject. My post was supposed to be humorous, nothing more.

Evil Dave always has a way of eloquently saying what I want to say. And he does it first :)

Sadly, people on either side of the gun control issue are never, ever ever ever in a bajillion years, agree with each other.
I like my guns. I like to shoot them. I don\'t have any aspirations of shooting people, but I DO keep a loaded clip of 10mm hollowpoints in my nightstand by the Glock in case I have to. Only time I\'ll ever point a gun at someone is if they\'re threatening my life, my wife\'s life, or my child\'s life.

But back on topic: go get your guns man, have fun with \'em, and be safe.
And, yeah, the sound of a 12ga cocking is a sure-fire deterrant to any would-be burglars. Ain\'t even gotta be loaded :)

It\'s obvious you do not know any of the 2000+ gun laws on the books.

A foreign citizen cannot walk into a gun store and buy a gun.

Then there\'s the transportation issue. Are you telling me that this Russian is going to get aboard a plane with a gun, and get into his country with a gun from America?
If he can do that he already has the know how to get one in his own country via the black market.
Might as well get a real Kalashnikov. It would be cheaper than the plane tickets.

Our gun laws in no way affect other countries, if that were the case, then gun laws of Africa, or the Middle East, which are far laxer than ours, would see AK-47\'s on every street corner of Europe.

The simple fact is we write our laws for us, for our needs.

The truth of the matter is, if you are not coming into my home, threatening the life of me or mine, you have nothing to fear from my guns.

edit: And how would you propose to take the guns away from us that believe it is a right?
Send in the police? Hold us at gun point?

You\'d merely be using guns to force others to your will without getting your own hands dirty.
