Thanks KB! The shirt did turn out surprisingly well even though I didn't have any pink colors.

So I'm going to work on this guy next. It looks like, from the character art, he is wearing one of those canvas kinda jackets. Anybody have any suggestions on how to achieve that sort of effect/look/feel?

Definitely like your work. The shading you do on the fabrics looks really good, an improvement can definitely be seen from model to model.

The only way I can think of for that sort of jacket effect would be to carefully dry brush but keep the strokes vertical, but you'd have to be careful because drybrush can add texture but for this you'd probably want the impression of texture without physically adding texture.. if that makes sense, I'm only guessing though, I've not had any experience trying anything like it before

Thanks for the response, Sicks! Yeah I was kind of thinking a careful drybrush would be the way to go. I'm curious as to what others may say, though. Like you, I haven't had experience with this sort of thing either.

Ha, well you got me there lol. I will consider it, but I don't think I have the skill to pull that off in a timely manner haha.

Bailey has a great tutorial on how to approach plaids. If you read it and just do each step as he says to, you'll get a great results and may even pick up a new skill along the way.

Would like to help but I have no idea on how to do it. Maybe googling on the internet or inspecting pictures of the real thing you can achieve your own method....
That idea from Webmonkey may be interesting too... ;)

Well what good are you, Maenas?! Lol, just kidding. Thanks for the response though. I think you're right, I'll have to check some images and see what I can do. I do like Webmonkey's idea, however, I'm trying to stick as close as I can to the character art. For one, it helps me learn some color matching/mixing, and secondly, it helps the player find and recognize on the board the character he is playing more easily.

Assuming it is an old style plaid hunting jacket (used before blaze orange), the plaid squares are much larger than a plaid shirt. Seeing this is starting to get me thinking I need to start painting my Zombicide minis....

Lol, yeah these Zombicide guys are nice figs to practice on. They are decent enough sculpts for a board game without getting bogged down in a bunch of tiny details. There are plenty of different materials to learn to paint: jeans/denim, shear stockings, the jacket from above. It's really helped me, for just getting back into the hobby after a long while, broaden my scope a bit.

Wish I did, but I tend to stay away from any models with exposed flesh (hence all the space marines ). I do think the skin tone looks good and adding some shading to the beard will make it look even better.

I finally had a chance to check out your WIP and you're doing some great work with those Zombicide minis and I'm seeing improvement in each one as you progress. I thought about getting one of the Zombicide games but wasn't sure of the quality of the minis. The work you're doing here is showing me that these can look really good and I may have to consider picking it up. I'm thinking these characters are going to look awesome on your board when you get them done :) I look forward to seeing more of your work soon!

@Guawol - Thank you sir! Ha yeah faces can be intimidating but they aren't that much different than other skin areas or cloth areas. Once you get a better handle of things you'll be able to take that plunge and it'll open up more possibilities for you.
@Kuribo - Welcome to my WIP (he says dramatically) lol, glad to have you haha. Zombicide has some cool figures that are decent sculpted and detailed enough to be interesting without being overwhelming or intimidating. They seem a higher quality than the Mansions of Madness ones you have been working with lately, no offense haha. And it's a fun game to play. Thanks for the kind words!
