still debating on February's contest,... I'm still thinking about the flesh tones contest, the more skin the better,.. it leaves the door open for a lot of interesting models. And then next summer, (June-ish) maybe go the opposite direction, and do one centered around clothing,.. specifically "patterned" clothing. Would give people a chance to break out their free-handing skills.

Between today and tomorrow I will put up some more pieces together, fill some gaps and hopefully start priming. Should I pin some parts? They fit really well and I am going to use GS and milliput to seal so I am not sure if I need to do so. Biggest piece ever... ^^'

I agree. I have some large trollbloods, that I would love to paint up. I might even pick up somehing big for that contest. Heck my Creature Caster Deamons might be here by then.

Good idea. Maybe make it a Covered Up contest. So that armored minis are alloved too.

Put my Anime project together,I was lucky enough to go to Sydney on the weekend to enter the Oz Painters MOAB painting competition and while ther picked up a heap of Relic Knight figures , so I will be doing this little beauty , I'm sure most of you have met One shot and Fritz before .View attachment 42434

The times I will complain about rainy weather are few and far between, but right now it is too wet to prime in CO, so I will have to paint faster on mini-death...

Hi Guys! I'm back from sunny Santorin. Even my pale fleshtone got some filters and washes of brown (even some reds first).
Really like your entries Maenas and Terrafirma. Great models! Can't wait to see your progression and what colours you will choose.
Here's where I'm at right now. Hopefully I can finish it. So far I oppened up all things and washed all parts. I tried to put them together, but it seems I will need a lot of Miliput for the dress. We'll see how it works out.

I have tried milliput for the first time covering the only part that needs it (ther rest unions are hidden by the design of the mini) and I think I'm in love... why the hell didn't tried it before? xD xD
@Terra: I'm intrigued on how you treat this mini. I have never painted a robot thingy... The closest thing was my EPIC 40000 Eldar army, but i don't think that counts xD
@Jike: the face and look of your entry reminds me of the crazy japanese ninja university girl of Killbill !

What is it that you really like about it? I know I love it for gap-filling as it smoothes perfectly with water.

I thought all I have left is the belt + shirt, but... The medium fleshtone used on the darkest shadows look weird. I looks ok-ish on a pic without a flash, but... I don't know what would be better. tweaking the color or repaint the whole piece.
Aaand some disaster with the shirt. I didn't take care and sprayed too much, so it pooled, tried to wipe it off, but all I managed is to partly remove the primer too. So I have a wrinkled back atm... no idea, resand, reprime, repaint... all for tomorrow.

That and the fact that at least for me it is more easily manipulated (reminds me of plasticine at the beggining, or clay a little later in time). GS sticks to everything and you have to keep humidifying all the time, it also irritates my finger tips a few hours later. On the milliput side I found that there is a sweet spot where the millyput consistence is perfect but I don't know how many time took to get to that point, since I got inmerse on the thing I was doing (recreating wrinkles of the robes).
And of course the fact that you can sand milliput very easily!
Oh and the next day I tried to repair a plastic hook at the kitchen with that millyput stuff and it worked perfectly! xD
On your mini, it looks like you pushed the fast forward button!! It is nice to start to see some colour in, but I am sorry about that shirt incident

Furthermore, are you planning to add some titles to the books? Would be a rewarding detail for people taking time looking at your miniature.
Here's where I'm at right now. All gaps plastered with miliput and primed grey, than first coats of colour with airbrush. Now it's up to brushwork and then I'll do the boots, chain and hair.
The coat looks grainy on photo, have to check that out on the model. But I don't mind about that, as I want to add weathering to the coat and the grainy effect could even help with that. We'll see.

oh yes,.. titles are a must (though some may be written in obscure languages,.. being magic books and all) and of course, probably an image of some kind on the cover of the top-most book. As for the wood look,. I just sort of made it up as I went. It would be easier to show then try to explain. I'll try to do a tutorial on it, along with the one for doing the stockings, and possibly one for eyes.
