I asked a girl out yesterday face to face and she said yes, you gotta have balls and do it in style. And I am a wimp too, but I quelled up enough courage to do it. lol

two good rejection stories of mine:

#1
Once, in high school, I stressed and strained and finally worked up the courage to ask out this girl I knew. I walked over to her thinking \"this is it, here I go, I\'m going to ask her out.\"
Before I can open my mouth she runs over all excited and says \"guess what. Darren asked me out!\"
Darren? I already hated Darren. Darren was an a$$&@!e.
Of course, after a couple years she married Darren so I started to think I probably hadn\'t lost out if she got along so well with him.

#2
In college I had a bit more courage so got to the point more quickly. I asked this girl out. She said no. She really had her eyes on this other guy. So, trying to act cool and unhurt, I casually asked who it was. She said \"his name is Chris and he\'s....\" My jaw dropped and she looked at me funny. She asked if I knew him. \"Yes. He\'s my roommate.\"

\'no, I don\'t want to date you I want to date your roommate\' is possibly the most painful of rejections because if they do date (they did) then you have to be passive witness to it.
Course, Chris and I didn\'t let it get between us and had many great times since and are still in touch but we\'ve no idea what became of her. I can\'t even remember her name.

Ah [sigh] unrequited love...

Love unrequited, robs me of me rest,
Love, hopeless love, my ardent soul encumbers,
Love, nightmare like, lies heavy of me chest,
And weaves itself into my midnight slumbers.

When you’re lying awake with a dismal headache and
Repose is taboo’d by anxiety,
I conceive you may use any language you choose to
Indulge in, without impropriety;
For your brain is on fire, the bed-clothes conspire of
Usual slumber to plunder you:
First your counter-pane goes, and uncovers your toes,
And your sheet slips demurely from under you;
Then the blanketing tickles, you feel like mixed
Pickles, so terribly sharp is the pricking,
And you’re hot and you’re cross, and you tumble and
Toss ’til there’s nothing ’twixt you and the
Ticking.
Then the bed-clothes all creep to the ground in a heap
And you pick ’em all up in a tangle;
Next your pillow resigns and politely declines to
Remain at it’s usual angle!
Well, you get some repose in the form of a dose, with
Hot eye-balls and head ever aching,
But your slumbering teems with such horrible dreams
That you’d very much better be waking;
For you dream you are crossing the channel, and
Tossing about in a steamer from harwich,
Which is something between a large bathing machine and
A very small second class carriage,
And you’re giving a treat (penny ice and cold meat) to
A party of friends and relations,
They’re a ravenous horde, and they all come on board
At sloane square and south kensington stations.
And bound on that journey you find your attorney
(who started this morning from devon);
He’s a bit undersiz’d and you don’t feel surpris’d
When he tells you he’s only eleven.
Well you’re driving like mad with this singular lad
(by the bye the ship’s now a four wheeler),
And you’re playing round games, and he calls you bad
Names when you tell him that \"ties pay the dealer\";
But this you can’t stand so you throw up your hand,
And you find you’re as cold as an icicle;
In your shirt and your socks (the black silk with gold
Clocks) crossing sal’sbury plain on a bicycle:
And he and the crew are on bicycles too, which they’ve
Somehow or other invested in,
And he’s telling the tars all the particulars of a
Company he’s interested in;
It’s a scheme of devices, to get at low prices, all
Good from cough mixtures to cables
(which tickled the sailors), by treating retailers as
Though they were all vegetables;
You get a good spadesman to plant a small tradesman
(first take off his boots with a boot tree),
And his legs will take root, and his fingers will
Shoot, and they’ll blossom and bud like a fruit
Tree;
From the green grocer tree you get grapes and green
Pea, cauliflower, pine apple and cranberries,
While the pastry cook plant cherry brandy will grant,
Apple puffs, and three corners, and banburys;
The shares are a penny and ever so many are taken by
Rothschild and baring,
And just as a few are allotted to you, you awake
And with a shudder despairing
You’re a regular wreck, with a crick in your neck, and
No wonder you snore, for your head’s on the floor
And you’ve needles and pins from your soles to your
Shins, and your flesh is acreep, for your left leg’s
Asleep,
And you’ve cramp in your toes, and a fly on your nose,
And some fluff in your lung, and a feverish tongue,
And a thirst that’s intense,
And a general sense that you haven’t been sleeping in
Clover;
But the darkness has pass’d, and it’s daylight at
Last, and the night has been long, ditto, ditto my
Song,
And thank goodness they’re both of them over!

All you young\'ens gather \'round, Ole Air is going to let you in on a secret.

The worst thing they can say is \"no.\"

Simple as that. If you ask them out and they say no, then move on. Sometimes, them saying no seems crushing, but you will get over it and you will ask again. This from a man that took 25 years to find his life partner. Lots of \"no\"s before I got to the right one. Lots of \"yes\"es that didn\'t work out so well too. But thems another story.

The worst they can say is \'yes, I\'d love to\', then \'no\', then \'yes\'. Then stand you up. Then realise you\'re hurt, and lie about making phone calls and sending messages to say they couldn\'t make it. Then say they\'ll make it up to you, never contact you, and ask all your buddies why you can\'t be \'friends\', saying that they cannot understand why you\'re angry with them.

No matter how pretty or charming she is, there\'s a reason she\'s single. See, there\'s a guy somewhere who is sick and tired of putting up with her shit.

A simple \'no\' is a blessing!

True story. Funny, the woman hasn\'t made it up to me yet. lol

@vince: not to be rude, but lol

My friend asked out this girl I really liked and he knew it and we both thought she knew the fact that I liked her and well, my friend went out with her for a while and then she dumped him and he didn\'t care oh so much because it didn\'t work out and then he said to me one day when I was sitting around outside \"Maybe you should ask her out\" and I did and then she said \"I didn\'t know you liked me, if you woulda said so I would of gone out with you\" and then she made the most aggravating excuse that any guy could possibly recieve and be shot down by \"I\'m not ready for another boy friend\" and as she said that my body took over and sat me in a near by chair and said \"oh, that\'s all right, I\'ll cya later.\" If it had not been for my brain taking over at that last instance I would\'ve been quite angry and have spewed many a foul words and then about 3 days later she ended up going out with another friend of mine in a relationship that I knew would never work out and when I found this out I laughed so hard I was crying. lol

Well now you\'ve had the rejection experience and know what it\'s like. Not so bad after a short time. This should bolster your courage a little.

Allow me to offer you some gems of wisdom from my experience. I am:
1.ugly
2.a jackass
3. A person who says what I mean

As you can see I might be somewhat impaired in the romance department. Here\'s what I did long ago: Acted like myself. I was rejected a few times in school and after but had plenty of acceptances as well. All the women I have known told me (to a soul) that they appreciated my honesty, and were attracted by my cockiness but they also appreciated that I was interested in what they were interested in. Make their interests central to your relationships. My wife verifies this and says my attitude was/is attractive. It\'s called confidence, even if it\'s faked. The rejections I had in school were usually reported by my classmates as something like \"Can you believe that jackass had the nerve to talk to HER?\"
A story as warning:
My wife is precisely the one person I was meant to be with and I almost blew it. In high school I asked her out. She accepted. She hardly said anything the entire day/evening. I assumed that she wasn\'t interested in me or didn\'t enjoy the date. I found out later she was just quiet (she still is). So I never asked her out onn a second date. I wound up dating her best friend (I didn\'t know that at the time). They became estranged over me (also info I didn\'t have and could have capitalized upon:D ). The best friend and I wound up splitting when I joined the Army. I didn\'t see my wife for 3 years. I thought about her alot and knew I had blown it by giving up on her. I had no I idea how to contact her. After 3 years she wrote me a letter (she was living somewhere else entirely) and when I came home from Korea we dated 2 times and were promptly married. That was 10 years ago. Don\'t miss an opportunity, you may not get a second chance to find out if someone is the right one.

I agree with Modderrhu, a no is a close 2nd after a yes, and sometimes even better! There is WAY worse that they can do to mess you up for weeks or months.

How about a yes, even if they\'re completely not into you and just lead you on for a few dates/weeks, just because they don\'t know how to say no, and wait until you\'re really starting to like them before figuring out how to tell you they never liked you the whole time.

There are so many situations worse than a no. And learning to take a no, and accept a no, and move on is pretty much key the whole process for guys. Just don\'t let it bother you, lots of other girls will say yes :)

its cheesy...but that pretty much summed up our relationship...cheesy. :p

I wish stupid boys would get the balls to ask girls out more often

for those of you who didn\'t know I\'m a scientist, I am, and I\'ve discovered a shocking new element found in air, not only is there oxygen and nitrogen

theres bikiniogen.

causes male IQ to drop 78.94% and is found in great excess in beach areas and hardly at all in North Dakota.

its my excuse as to why Florida boys are so ridiculous ;)

Not rude at all. I put it up there for a laugh. Happily married going on 9 years now so the numerous painful-at-the-time rejections are there to laugh at.

I have to get very drunk before divulging the exact circumstances of meeting my wife, but I can say something. She was very reluctant to go out with me and told me she was basically prepared to mace me on our first date. I stunned her by being a sweetheart and total gentleman. She didn’t expect that from a long-haired goatie-wearing freak in battered army fatigues and a fonzie-jacket. Turns out quite a few of the women I met in college later told me they were scared of me when they first met me.
