So! I was going to paint a new Zombicide piece for the Legion Challenge. Alas, I didn't have the time to even touch a brush this week, so planned to practice photography and get some good pictures of an older mini instead. That also failed ... so I ended up with old pictures of the old model.

Either way, here it is... I'm kind of fond of this one, I had a lot of eureka moments while working on it: http://www.coolminiornot.com/373218

Yeah, I agree that the score is too high - but, when you have an open vote, networking counts, and I have been networking. The comment was on the harsh side, though... Sloppy water effects? That's *slime*! :p

Exciting to see what happens next... Seems like I was third when the contest ended.

yep, don't get the water effects comment???
I agree with skel on the score, 7.5 on the paint job - a 9 for character - a 10 for the grubs !!!! :)

i like the paintjob but the picture doesn't make it justice!
With few tips you can improve your phone pictures quite a lot, like with neutral background and good desk lamp, without spending $$$ in heavy equipment!

Tero, I just realised that I never answered you on this, even if you brought it up a couple of times - yeah, I'd like to see what. I think I need to go shopping for a second lamp no matter what so I can just as well shop for some supplies for a photoroom. I have been hoping that my fiance should tire of her indoors growing project, so that I could steal her fancy daylight lamps... No such luck yet.

All right, safely out of the Middle East and back to the land of ice and alcohol once again. Been itching to paint, and I did a lot of chores while the mrs slept off the jet lag, giving me some free time to start to work on things tonight. I finally managed to prime the mini for the loathing contest, plus its companion:

And I put some quick Pale Wytch Flesh on the zombivore. That's it for these guys tonight. These are relatively simple minis, but will require some freehand (which I suck at) and I also need to do flames on the zombivore, which I've never done before.

With these tw, I've got far too many unfinished projects, so I have decided to roll my sleeves up and finish as much as I can as soon as I can. Plus these, I got 24 zombies, 8 zombicide heroes, the two Dark Age minis I started for the contest and the Morgaur, all in various stages of unfinishedness. On top of this, I got a couple dozen Dark Age minis primed and awaiting, so there's plenty to do. So, tonight, I flicked some on the bases of 8 of the zombies, sealed the Morgaur and finished the flesh on Numbskull. Next session I hope to finish basing the 8 zombies and finish the Morgaur completely - it has been waiting long enough and now I just want it done.

Okay, finally something to show off. Only had a short session tonight, so I let zombies be zombies and went straight for the Morgaur. I put some water effect in the buckets on the base (my first time using water effect, so I resisted trying to add any 'splash'), painted over his eyes with 'Ardcoat, put a red glaze on his tongue to give it some color back and fixed a couple of small flaws here and there. Then added some Nurgle's Rot to his mouth, before I went to work on this:

What you see there on the Morgaur's jaw (the bottom left in the picture) is a hair from my head - one of the grey ones, better opacity and it won't be missed (I tell my kids I get another gray hair in my beard and/or head every time they scream and argue and once all are grey, they will have to put me in a nursing home).

Then cut it and added some more. You can't see all of them in the picture, but there should be seven total.

Finally I added more Nurgle's Rot. What surprised me is how hard it was to make the hairs take the paint. I had to let it dry a bit and let it thicken on the brush, adding several thick layers (no watering here!) before I started to get the desired effect.

Another full frontal. I think I'll add more Rot tomorrow, not 100% pleased yet.

At first, I didn't want to add any 'external' slime to simulate the Morgaur's acidic bite, but after seeing Sprocket using this trick in his blog, I had to copy it. Actually, I think it will be more sturdy than I first thought. I considered making a strand of slime from one jaw to the other, but decided it would break too easy. The Morgaur is so huge, it will probably not see much gaming, but it *is* a gaming piece.

Thanks guys! I threw on another layer before leaving for work this morning, hopefully I'll get it right if I add one more.
