Old NMM shocker! GW/Eavy Metal firsts!

heh, a bit more \'recent\', but if you look at the mini of Captain Tycho, originally painted by Neil Hodgson, you\'ll see NMM going on, and that was about 10 years ago.... more recently, look at the nighbringer that martin Footit painted, that\'s chrome NMM as it should be done, not the \'do it flat grey and call it shiney metal\'. Ofcourse Rackham wasn\'t the first with NMM, neither was GW. In ye olden days, toy soldiers were painted with dflat colours, because metallic paints didn\'t exist. (I\'m talking in victorian and geogian times here...)

Thinking about trends

Even if you go beyond the use of NMM, think about those 4 1988 entries.
If they were the only pieces in a competition today, would they still come out in that order?

I think not. I think Grant would take 1st and Portas 2nd (though possibly the other way around) and Sopas only come in 3rd.

I was never suggesting GW were the first Tammy Just throwing a spanner in the works as far as painting in the last 25-30 years has gone, fantasy/sci-fi-wise.

hey tammy,good to see you back. i agree with you - that nightbringer looked awesome. i think it was the first example of nmm that i had ever come across (well senmm) i remember reading the \'how i did it\' bit and thinking wooooow

I saw these on a recent trip to the St. Louis Museum of History..

The tallest was about 3.5 inches tall.
