Nothing like 50 new models to really make a Big Mek a short attention span freak. I\'ve ordered a set of Nobs for my magnetic swappable bikers and have to wait for them to come it, sooooo.... I\'ve had the new Battlewagon kit staring me in the face for the last two weeks, taunting me like some ugly French k\'nig\'it! Doc Nuk has done some incredible work in \"putting his BW on steroids\" in this link http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/?showtopic=37991, which does exactly what I wanted to do but did all the hard work of thinking it out. To you Doc Nuk, I Will Loot You! (in my best/worst AC/DC imitation)

I\'m looting primarily the base platform and chassis modifications. This gives me the base dimensions I wanted, from there, I\'ll be making things up as I go along. I\'ve got some ideas and the rest will be winged,just like a good Mek should.

Nothing fancy at this point, just the structural parts in place. There\'ll be more random plates added to it.

I\'m not worried about what things look like underneath as I\'ll be closing up most of the under structuer. This does two things for me. 1. I don\'t have to worry about how it looks/details, and 2. It will make it more structurally sound.

I will be changing the front wheels as my first deviation from the kit and DocNuk\'s version. Here\'s a teaser shot of what it will involve. Not sure exactly what it will look like, but they won\'t be tires of any sort....

I am as dissappointed as the rest of you, just want to put that out there....

I don\'t have the parts/$ to make the front wheel into tracks. I guess that will have to be left for someone else. As much as I wnated too, I could not find something that was suitable out of my bitz boxes. In the end, I had to fall back to the tires supplied with the kit. Oh well, maybe next time.

With all appologies to the other Big Meks out of the way, I\'m nearly finished with the main platform and chassis. The only left unfinished at this point is the farthest back of the trukk bed. I\'ve got some ideas and parts I want to use there but I\'ll work them in later.

My usual path now is to work from front to back, filling and making stuff up as I go - this should be no different. I\'ve filled in the front of the grill extension and have dry fit the upper sections. Once the cab sections have been put in place (minus the top), I\'ll have my first custom part made.... Tune in later to see what I\'ve got up my sleeve!

If I decide to do a 40k Ork army I\'ll definitely be doing a kustom wagon myself... I was thinking a Mad Max style semi tanker truck, but with the tanker open-topped and full of rowdy Boyz. Anyway can\'t wait to see what you end up with!

Spent a little more time and got this far - very rough as I\'m jsut laying out the spaces to see what I have to fix. The toughest part is deciding how to treat the outside wall and roofline of the drivers compartment.

So yes, the \"up my sleeve\" thing is to have a magnetic (yes, again) mount in the new widened space up front with swappable Kannon/Zapp gun. The way it\'s planned is so I can sue either weapon and rotate it enough to get full frontal firing arcs. Not the same as turret or piontle mount, but I can live with that - it will look cooler this way! (to me)

@Aliengod3: I\'ve got a couple of different size of microsaws (the regular X-Acto brand) for cutting these up. They\'re only a couple of bucks and really make this kind of work easy.

Finally figured out how to (and what parts I\'m going to use) attach the swappable guns - and here it is. Not much of an update but it\'s done and now I can move on to closing up the rest of the cab, close up the gap underneath (I think I\'ll take DocNuks idea there too) and start moving on to the back deck area. Yeah - progress!

After a couple of weeks off to work on a 50 hour trivia marathon, I\'m back. (whew)

I\'ve actually puttered my way through the last month with short spurts of work here and there, not enough in one sitting though to make a difference. The biggest difference is in the back, closing up the rear entrance and finishing off the tailgate. I\'m adding a boarding plank from the trukk kit to one side and I\'m dithering between another small platform on the other side or a large set of exhausts (I\'m leanign towards exhausts). I also close up the gap bewteen the wheels up front wit ha rhino door plate. Worked pretty well.

I\'m trying to figure out the best way to get a sort of \"running board\" over the front wheels that mesh/weld into a platform that extends from the doors to put two big shoota \"nests\" out the side doors. This way, my four big shootas setup has two out of the back bed and one out of each door. This should give my expected Kill Kannon (scratch built, of course) so be a nice focal point when installed, yet give the wagon a nice low, lean look when not using the kill kannon.

Now with more time on my hands the pace should pick up somewhat. Besides, I \'ve got to hurry up and finish so I can start the Stompa as soon as it comes in. (and I will be putting the BW cab/gob head on..... that looks sooooo cool).

Thanks Uber, appreciate the comments. I\'ll be making a hard top for it as well as a kill kannon setup. I agree it could use a little bit of height now other wise it looks a little \"flat\".

As for my ranking... that means I only need to sniper score two people - gotta find out who 667 and 666 are.....:twisted::twisted::twisted:

Progress was made today but nothing major. mostly little filler bitz and details. I did make shields for the zzap and kannon, finished up the detail on the frame on the right side and started the exhasut system. I also put together a coupala with a big shoota and a Kommander and put on some stock parts after deciding to \"close\" the side doors. Just made things easier. I didn\'t set out to redo the entire thing, just make it a little bigger and add some extras along the way.

and the other side where I\'ve started to \"flesh\" out the exhuast system (the stock one is extremely weedy).

After the exhast is finished I have two mjor parts to tackle yet - the \'ard case/kill kannon and the re-inforced ram. I\'ve got a pretty good handle in my head what I\'m going to do with the ram, the \'ard case and kill kannon is completely up in the air at this point.
