eBay can be fickle, depends who's around when the auction is due to finish, get lucky and have a couple of people who REALLY want a particular piece and see the price rocket, or get one guy who'd pay a ton bidding against others who won't means the price stays lower than what it could potentially reach, to point out the absolute obvious! 
The guys work that was linked in OP, he's probly doing it about right in terms of quality vs price vs quantity, his work is clean, solid and a distance above average (imo) and the price tags aren't really that high, his market is going to be bigger and include alot of average joe who'd pay those prices for nice mini's, rather than having a fraction of the mini's at uber display quality a handful of people will pay out the arse for if you get lucky. Nothing wrong with advertising as professionally painted if that's what he wants to do, as essentially painting is his profession, he's doing something right with his feedback/sales rate so more power to the guy, my observation at any rate
