It does! Thanks a lot. It never occured to me that Rackham has many minis (Mid-Nor, I think) with exactly what I\'m looking for. *off to study Rackham photos*

Is this what you mean on the weapon blade?

Yes!!!! That\'s EXACTLY what I mean!!! Now, how did you do that? :)

(copied and pasted from Headblast (can\'t type too well atm due to having a spranied wrist) - )

The blade was done by firstly basecoating with VMC German Uniform grey and then several water thin layers of this mixed with VGC Cold Grey (getting lighter each layer). Then watery Cold grey to add a few highlights. The rust corroded areas were done using very watered down layers of VMC Red Leather, VGC Parasite Brown and VMC Light Orange, which were allowed to pool (when the colour had pooled... it was quite effective to add undiluted colour to make random areas stronger)and then blended using clean water.

The Verdigris areas were made using a small amount of Verdigris Glaze, and thin, watery coats of VGC Jade Green and VMC Sky Blue.

Finally, highlights were made with VGC Cold Grey.

Basically, the corroded area was painted wet into wet and then blended.

Hope that\'s clearish Margo :)???

Margo you can also try Doctor Fausts Painting Clinic he did a fantastic job on a Dwarf cannon type thing from Rackham I think it was any way here is the link to his site http://www.paintingclinic.com/ and when you get there click on the lab link on the left hand side and there is several pics of it from different angles and an explanation/how he did it at the bottom of the page.

It is. Thank you! So, basically, it\'s all about glazes, but the trick is to let some of the base colour show, and then highlight with it when the rust is glazed on. I\'m going to try it now.

P.S. Hope your hand heals fast.

@War Griffon: thanks for the link!

I want to thank everybody who posted links and gave me advice in this tread. I\'ve just finished painting a model with rusty NMM, and it looks just like I wanted it to! Thanks!
