Well I am entering the duel this year, a nightbringer and an avatar, tight squeeze on a 50mm base.

I have nearly thrown the towel in on this pair many times, mainly because of my very poor sculpting skills and then when I realised that GW would be presentintg a new Avatar very soon.
But i have decided what the hell, I do like to win but I think taking part will have to do.
Vincenti find it in your heart not to finish the punch up between the ork and marine, I need all the competition out of the way. :p

It\'s always interesting to see how people get big figs into duels. It\'s tough but it works very well if dealt with well. I had an idea for a Duel a few years back with a Treeman and a mounted Bretonnian. Would have been fun but didn\'t get around to it...

That said I have a Duel on the go for this year. Two relatively small figs, but there has been an interesting challenge with regards to the scenery...

Oh, and no probs Adrian. I don\'t think anyone wants to see a potential disqualification (even though I think it\'s ridiculous that you can\'t enter Forgeworld stuff in Large Scale miniature...)

main reason I don\'t tend to share is because I never finish most of the GD minis I start, not much to share if its been at the concept stage for the last 4 years... :D

I do say what I\'m working on though. I\'ve mentioned various things I\'ve been doing before, but I\'ve done nothing in months for various reasons. A LOTR wood elf banner bearer is the most likely to be done this year.

I\'d agree with Steve, I like to know that no-one has seen my GD stuff before the day. The other thing is that most of us know enough about the competition to be able to make a pretty good guess about which the winners would be if presented with photos of all of the entrants

That said, I have no problems letting people know the details of what I\'m entering. I\'ve got an Empire Guy vs Beastman Duel (looks like that\'s going to be a popular category this year :D ) and a 54mm Tau Ethereal for Large Scale model (if I ever finish painting it)

Just to remind everyone who is coming to the CMoN meetup to bring along photos of their models then. While the new setup (with the plasma screens etc) is better than the old one, it is still often difficult to get to see people\'s entries once they are in the cabinets.

Cheers

I have started making the base for my 2007Duel (yep, the whole thing will take that long!), out of the industrial slag they use to make the substrate for our school\'s shot-putt thingy. Looks very Chaos-Wastey  The duel is hopefully going to be my best ever piece, I\'m going to try and get the painting really smooth, and there will be OSL and NMM in there too.

Good luck everyone! :D

Hey Bill

Dont forget that the base must be a 40 or 50mm round/square base... otherwise its a diorama

;)

I\'ve got nothing finished yet :( but I\'m hoping...

I\'ve nearly finished sculpting a large scale bust for the Open, something I\'ve been working on for, oh, maybe 5 years.......!!
Have to start painting it this weekend to stand a chance of finishing it in time....

Well, I\'m no longer sure what, if anything, I\'ll enter this year. My illness (been out for a week and a half now) is relapsing for the third time and I\'m hideously behind on work, let alone GD entries.

Steve: Sorry you\'re on the sick list at the minute. I really hope that you can pull round in time for the competition. It\'s always a delight to see your stuff, even if it does kick the stuffing out of most of ours. :D

Avicenna: Just like last year then? lol

As for me, well 40K & WFB single entries have been deposited back in the Dettol. :(
Large scale entry is complete, as is my personal Open Category figure :D and the WFB Command Squad needs a base.

Well, my situation is...

Duel - modelling just about done. If I recover fairly soon I can see this getting done.

Regiment - My main entry. Looks like a pipe dream at this point as I\'ve only got two out of twenty two painted and without options of reducing numbers.

Large Scale - Again, looking very unlikely. Was a scratch build and is only half done. In a minute I\'ll explain why this may be undoable.

Basically, as mentioned, I\'m ill. But I seem to be suffering two separate conditions right now. And I have a sneaking suspicion that the cause of one could be a developing allergic reaction to epoxy putty. As you can imagine, this is my absolute nightmare scenario. Praying it\'s anything else.

So, I\'m avoiding epoxy putty wherever I can at the moment (that\'s greenstuff, milliput etc...). I can\'t entirely just now as I have a commission to finish and all my demon entries still require at least a little putty work. The large scale needs a lot so is off the menu right now. I think I can muddle through with the duel, minimising exposure while I sort out whether that is the problem.

So, I\'ve started two new entries. 40k single and fantasy single. Basically they\'re both just plastic builds avoiding sculpting. I can do these in relatively little time and putty will be largely just the odd gap fill. Almost certainly kills my chances of winning in these categories due to the lack of complex conversions but they should be fun to paint if I recover soon.

Then it\'s sit back and hope that the epoxy thing doesn\'t happen.

What a time to be broke...

@Steve: Sorry to hear that. :( Lotr?? Okay.. I\'m commiting suicide here as I\'m entering there as well but still.

Does it matter if you use gloves?

As far as GW goes; it’s easy for a guy who make historical to tell you what they are up to. I ALREADY HAPPENED! But a game where you make up the story as you go along kind of kills the interest.

What he said.

Me: So what are you working on at the moment?
Historic Guy: Some Hundred Years War French knights
Me: cool, let me know how they turn out

Me: So what are you working on at the moment?
Games Workshop Guy: A flaming chariot, ridden by Sigmar himself and has naked Elf chicks draped over every availble surface.
Me: OMFG! Whens it out! Is it plastic? Metal? How much will it be? Can I see the green? Do you have the green? Whens it out! Whens it out! Whens it out!

Of course sometimes it goes both ways

Me:So what are you working on at the moment?
Games Workshop Guy: Some more Space Marines
Me: *yawn* ok, let me know how it turns out

Me: So what are you working on at the moment?
Historic Guy: Some Wars of the Roses Yorkist character models, including Richard III and his bannerman.
Me:OMFG! Whens it out! Is it plastic? Metal? How much will it be? Can I see the green? Do you have the green? Whens it out! Whens it out! Whens it out!NOWNOWNOW!!!

Dear Steve, I know of a few military modellers who have developed reactions to putties after years of use, they now use almost use surgical tecniques to avoid skin contact , but they are still in the hobby and producing awesome stuff ! .......Get well soon .......Improvise, Adapt and Overcome !

Thanks for the pep talk Adrian. Possibly some good news. I went 48 hours with no putty contact at all and had a few allergy attacks anyway. Not conclusive but it does point away from epoxy being the problem.
