It looks like they are trying to make 3.5 playable and keep it alive. Much like (??) has done with 2.0.

Had our first PFRPG session last night. It was nice to see the baddies actually have a chance of swatting one of the tumbling rogues.

Started the Council of Thieves adventure path. Very well written. Way too much info - almost. After they survive this, then life gets fun. Way too easy to kill the low levels if someone makes a mistake - but that has been true with D&D ever since....

Hi Airhead, played 2nd ed for a decade & made the shift to 3.5 fairly recently. The whole gang\'s really enjoying it & suddenly all the books have vanished & 4th ed is everywhere (& the reviews I\'ve encountered make it sound dire). It\'s at least 8 more years before I intend to switch system, so finding out that this Pathfinder exists is really interesting, cheers, B.

Been playing it for some months now and I have to say I really like it.

Read 4th edition, didn\'t like that they took all of the ROLEplaying out of it.

Pathfinder is a great system. Highly recommended.

Forgive my cluelessness.

I though Pathfinder was a variation of D&D 3.5 under the open liscence. Is it more than just a campaign setting?

If there are major differences (mechanically speaking) would someone expound upon those here please?

Thanks for the info.

Pathfinder has been lovingly called 3.7 D&D.

There are some rules differences. In short:
Nearly every class went up a hit point dice type (mages get a d6, rogues get a d8, etc.)
Several skills were rolled together into \'combat maneuver\' and are much easier to perform.
Tumbling now is an opposed check.
There is no turning as you knew it.
The core classes are cool again and there is reason to stay core instead of presteige.
