Got the next 10 Men at Arms started yesterday. I gave a couple of them green stuff shields just to see how well they match once painted. They match pretty well. I think I\'ll post pictures when they are done and let everyone try and guess which ones are which! :D

Taking today off to work on some Games Day stuff. Will get back to the Bret\'s tomorrow.

First, bend over a bit, I\'m getting to old to reach people\'s faces with my foot... :drunk:

This is going to be a darn nice looking army to be sure. Love the color scheme, love the shields. I can\'t wait to see it all together, it will be an impressive sight.

Here\'s some shots of the finished unit of Men-at-Arms. Two of these miniatures have shields cast from green-stuff. Can you tell which ones? :D

Next up will be 14 blue/white mounted Yeomen.

Thanks for all the support and kind words!

The customer requested that 5 or so shields in the unit get some chips on them, so some or all of the GS shields may have chips painted on them! :D

I\'ll post some close ups of a few of the shields for easier guessing! Some of the guys in the back are tough to see.

Cheers!

I\'m guessing the guys on either side of the musician have the GS shields.

There is one thing I see that seems off. I saw it with the Scouts, but wasn\'t sure if it was just the pic or not. The yellow in the pennant doesn\'t seem to match the yellow on the guys. I think it would look better if you got the slightly orangy colour on the pennants as well. I\'m pretty sure this is due to the fact the pennants didn\'t get a wash. I may be wrong though.

Here\'s 6 models, two of which have GS shields. Guess away! :)

The banners are brighter on purpose. The banners are meant to match the knights, which will be a much brighter yellow (they get the cleaner fabric, after all). The Men-at-Arms are meant to have a dull yellow since they are not as important as the knights, and the scouts are intended to have an ochre rather than bright yellow, to help them blend in with their surroundings.

Cheers!

Incorrect! :)

C and E have the green stuff shields. Guess it\'s tough to tell the difference, and that\'s a good thing! :D

Excellent work!

Would you mind if I tried a similar paint scheme on my Bretonnians? I have the wash set on the way also.

Thought it would be polite to ask before stealing someone\'s paint scheme.

Keep em coming! :D

I\'m very impressed with the standard of your painting throughout your minis.

One question, how do you paint so many minis to the same standard? I only paint and don\'t game, but find it very hard to paint more than one figure at a time as my standard drops from the first to the last.

Over the course of painting commissions I sort of have a \"style\" that I stick to. Each color gets about 3 highlights and a shade, and is usually blacklined. If I always follow that recipe, it keeps everything looking similar.

Also, assembly-line painting works wonders! I usually start with the skin first, so I\'ll paint all the basecoats on the unit, then when that\'s done, shade them all. After that dries, put on each highlight, and so on. I\'ll do that on groups of about 10 or so at a time. Too many models at once and you can start forgetting areas to paint or get incredibly bored!

I must say that I too love the color scheme of the men at arms. The mounted yeomen looks good too. I\'m mostly impressed with the speed and quality in which you paint these models. It takes me a long time to finish a few models to the same standard.

Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing the complete army

Matt,

Excellent job so far. You\'re just cruising through these guys. I\'m still looking at my chaos daemon army and they\'re throwing rocks at me because I won\'t paint them yet.

Great job sculpting those shields. I can\'t wait to see the whole thing completed!

Oh, are you timing yourself on this?

Thanks for the comments folks :)

I\'m not exactly timing myself. I just sort of know if I am on track or not based on what I finish at the end of each day that I work. And since it\'s priced by the job and not hourly, it works out fine.

When I do showcase quality stuff I keep track down to the minute, since that\'s priced by the hour and I like to be totally accurate with that.

I see, I see! Aside from a business standpoint, I was just wondering if you keep track for a personal record. It appears you can rattle out an army pretty darn quick and still make it look great.
