Possibly the LARGEST wip ever!!

Matt I just wanted to say that you do some of the simplest, and yet most amazing basing I have seen. Somehow every base of yours that I look at appears to be a painting on a canvas.

Everything else is great too. But your bases really stand out to me for some reason.

Nice! :) Love the sculpt as well. However I think you should mix a bit of green into the ogryn flesh wash as I find the deep shading a bit red. For added realism it is often a good idea to desaturate the deepest shadows.
I agree, Ogryn Flesh is more pink than I would like. A bit of green or purple or something to tone it down works wonders.

Just a quick note, I was playing around with skintones the other day and found one I\'m really happy with.

Tallarn Flesh, washed with a slightly thinned Devlan Mud with a hint of Leviathan Purple mixed in. Reapply Tallarn flesh, hilight, then another wash of the Mud/Purple mix. Reapply the final hilight in a few hotspots if you need to.

I\'m never happy with skintones, but this one has been working well so far. Thought I\'d let you know :)

There seems to be a lot of \"best of...\" threads popping up these days.

I can honestly say this is one of the best threads this site has.

Straightforward, enjoyable, wickedly well photographed, highly instructive
and inspiring without being overwhelming.

Your speed and focus is freaky.

Bravo.

P.S. - You should do a photography tutorial.....

Cheers folks :)

Thanks for the tip on that skintone Jericho. I\'ll give that recipe a try sometime!

@cfwheeler: I don\'t consider my photography anything special, but thanks for the kind words! ;) I don\'t know anything about cameras, so it is probably just because I bought a really good one. All I do is use 2 lamps with a white pillow case or sheets of paper as a backdrop. Then I just do \"Auto Levels\" and \"Lighten Shadows\" in photoshop, and crop the image. Real simple :D

Here\'s the next unit of archers. The army battle standard is coming up next.

That\'s a beautiful unit you got there!
I\'ve been watching this tread since the beginning and it\'s really cool to see how your army comes together.
Awesome work! -keep it up

That\'s it, you\'ve done it! Once I finish my Bretonnian Lord conversion, the rest of the army is gonna get painted!

Great job! I\'ve never been a fan of the older Bret models, but you\'ve given them so much life and expression! You have a great gift of painting the models in such a way that it fits the sculpt too. Keep it up!

Got a lot of new photos to post here. Been too busy painting like a maniac to get any pictures taken. But I snapped a few this evening (came out a little dark, but it\'ll do)

So glad youLre back, the new stuff looks great! I really wish they had kept these old knights, they looked much finer then the new messy ones.

Finally done with these Brets. Been a long process but fun none the less!

Very good chance that the owner of this army will be coming to Phoenix for a grand tournament. If that\'s the case I will make sure to take some photos of the army in action.

Sorry for the photos not being the greatest. I don\'t have my optimum photo setup yet at the new house.
