A... Games Workshop... Paint station? Uhm, whatever. Doesn\'t look like a too comfortable bed but it\'s a lovely picture somehow. By the way, do you think it\'s a good idea to allow your pet the get into your painting room? If your answer yes, you must really love your cat.

I\'ve got a tall Newfoundlander. He\'s very crazy and loves bread and beer and sleeping and is kind of a psycho sometimes, but he\'s a jolly good fellow and always friendly.

Obviously he\'s sleeping there because it\'s an awesome place to be. At least it must be awesome, the cat thinks, because you spend so much time there.

plus, cats are made of pudding so they can sleep on top of jagged rocks and be comfortable.

hehe yes, the paintstation is fine, i\'ve used one since i started painting years and years ago, and am so used to it now, yeah my cat is always alowed in my painting room because normally he just sleeps on my bed, yes my painting room is also my bedroom, he never gets in the way (well except for this time).

i used to have a beta... then it died... i cant take care of fish (or i can and they just dont have a very long life left by the time i buy them lol) altho my newt has lived longer then eny body elses that i know

Siamese fighters only live for 2 1/2 years tops. They\'re great little guys, but just aren\'t cut out for life away from their little puddle. I\'ve got a catfish all of 18 years, but they\'re another kettle of fish entirely.

Fish are notoriously hard to photograph. Try artificial lighting from the sides and top alone, Eric. No camera flash, no reflections against the glass. If you\'re using film, use ASA 800, or even more. The big trouble is that, unlike minis, they move. The shutter has to be fast, and a sensitive film will help keep some measure of depth of field. Not easy to get it right. Too many conflicting goals.

yeah, I had to work at it for quite a while spread over several days before I got this one. I had promised margo I would show her my fish (named \"Fish E. Fish\"), so I was determined... The problem is of course the having to use quick shutter speed which makes focusing a pain, as you mention, however since this one got his fins in focus, I figured that was the important part

But he is a betta, and a great decoration for the painting table. They\'re great because they breathe air at the surface so you don\'t need anything except a bowl, and to change the water about once a week. This is a rarer version of Betta with shredded fins, which can be rather hard to get, but I got lucky one day, as my local store just stocked them out of the blue, one shipment only of about 10.

I have to admit, I sort of consider fish decoration more than pets, but it is funny watching my cats try to figure out how to get him without touching any water...

Yeah, they\'re hardly demanding fish. In Thailand it\'s common to find Betta species in a literal puddle of water made by a cow\'s hoof.

Here\'s the best pic I ever got when I still kept fish seriously. Fortunately I gave most of my corals and stuff away before copper poisoning killed what was left.

They\'re Betta Splendens a.k.a. Siamese Fighting Fish a.k.a. Siamese Puddle Fish. The plus side to them is that they are real easy-keepers because because you don\'t need an oxygenator for the water, like Eric said, they can take a bubble of air from the surface and pass it over their gills.

The down side is that they are highly aggressive and will fight with any other colorful fish in the tank with them. I\'ve had success with keeping a dull-looking little catfish with mine in one of those desktop gallon tanks, although my most recent Betta is so mean that he won\'t even leave those alone. His name is Fi-Fi (named by my 3-year-old daughter).

Bettas were also used in one of my biology courses to show an example of aggressive behavior in fish. If you hold up a mirror to the side of the tank (but don\'t leave it there!), male Bettas will display aggressiveness by dipping their heads, wiggling their fins, and flaring thier operculums (the covering of the gills). That was a fun class day... having a room full of little angry fish! lol

Those are neat little fish.

Used to do a lot of Crappie fishing when I was younger and lived in Alabama. Found a baby catfish in the bottom of the minnow bucket and decided to keep him and name him Oscar and dropped him into the fish tank at the house.

Funny how fast that damn thing grew - and how many other fish he ate. Didn\'t know the things were that aggressive, or atleast, this one was. Finally ended up dropping him back into the river when he was about 13 inches long or so.

We actually had a wild baby bunny stay with us last night. One of our cats brought it in and let it loose. Grumb caught it and we put it in a cage until I could release it today (at which point a hawk almost got it...)

EDIT: I need to get a picture of him while Grumb\'s rubbing his throat - he won\'t let anyone else do that.

I have a tri-color basset hound named Biscuit (not fond of the name, but thats the name he had when we got him), a sable mini Holland lop named Buttercup ( my wife\'s bunny), a 5.5 ft. green iguana named Ziggy (hes 10 years old this year!), a California Desert Tortoise named Crush, 3 Nosy-be panther chameleons named Zeus, Hera and Artemis, a beta (rescued from a filthy bowl on a co-workers desk when he went on vacation for 3 weeks) and a 16 inch Dragon eel in a 50 gallon brackish tank, the look of the inside of the tank is sweet.

I should just open a zoo.

edit: forgot to mention the Iguana and the 3 chameleons are all housed in enclosures custom built by me, the iguana additionally has an outdoor enclosure he lives in as a summer home, lol.

hey...HEY!...Don\'t make fun of the Gizmeister.

He is a tough little guy---the German Shepherd across the street has felt his wrath several times.
The usual scenario:
The shepherd wanders into my yard, I let Giz out. Giz runs underneath the shepherd and ferociously clamps down on anything that\'s dangling. The shepherd starts yelping and draggin\' his butt, while running with his front paws, back across the street.
It\'s an awful thing to watch----but funny as hell.
